Wintersun - Crowdfunding Campaign An Enormous Success
On March 1st, Wintersun opened up a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo in order to raise money for their own studio and third album, The Forest Seasons. In the first nine days, they flew past the initial 150,000 euro goal set by the band. The campaign resulted in Wintersun raising 428,310 euro, equal to about 456,625 US dollars, by March 31st. Contributors to the campaign will be getting The Forest Seasons, including previous Wintersun albums, instrumentals, and isolated tracks off Time 1.5 (Time I remastered) and The Forest Seasons, for the 50 euros ($53.31) that the band was asking.
According to them, Indiegogo congratulated Wintersun for the second highest funded music campaign on Indiegogo of all time. (Second only to a music-based product that raised around $1.6M).
The money contributed will be used to fund future album productions and allow the band to construct their own headquarters for recording future albums and releases, including the completion of the long awaited Time II. (We'll also get to see more videos of Jari shredding and maybe sometimes in his underwear, which basically puts every other shredder to shame).
The Forest Seasons is expected to be released in July of this year.

A die-hard Wintersun fan would normally own all their albums, so essentially each one paid 50 euros just to buy the new album, right? And of course "to fund future album productions" (which is something that the music label pays for normally), as well as "allow the band to construct their own headquarters for recording future albums and releases" (in other words to buy their own studio... wtf?). The sum they gathered implies that there were about 8500 of these fans if my math is correct...

Wow .. I'm still surprised by the result, but even more by the level of hate that's here .. Grow up guys! If you don't want to give your money, no one forces you to do so, but it's high time for you to accept and respect those who did it. I feel that 50? is not so much since I fucking love every piece of music that Jari already released and I want to hear more, a lot more.
