Mörk Gryning - Hinsides Vrede

This is perfect melodic black metal, I loved it.
Originally I was disappointed when I saw the 35 minute runtime but now I know how well the album works and flows the way it is. I will definitely find it easy to listen through again and again. The first half is pure aggression with fantastic riffs then the second half takes a breath and slows the pace to add in more atmosphere without losing anything it had before. I don't know if I've heard a better comeback album.

If any band was going to come back after 15 years and mostly return to their roots from 25 years ago, I sure am glad it was Mörk Gryning.

Some people don't gonna like the fact they went away from the chaotic and more experimental style of the self titled album, but I like it. A lot of variation with hints of Dawn, Sacramentum, Hades and even Windir and Kampfar.

Cold as icey winter, fast as dancing arorora, black as artic darkness at winter time. Unique as swedish nature it self. Primordial, arrogant, old, cold, evil, artistic, its simply way of life, something what you born into it, thing as ancestors, they need live hard to survive, same here but they are vikings they take no prisoners, like it or dont non gives a damn. Great band fitts in this ''classic'' category, this album can drag down and rip some parts off , of Hellenic BM scene what wins this year. 2-3 such albums and Hellas would be fallen, but non big band will realise album soon. Naglfar and Necrophobic and Kvarn .... maybe Hellas throne is fallen. No Naglefar and Necrophobic were to weak, way to predictable to win a battle, Kvarn are to new... well nevermind

This is a mix bag of an album. From blackened shrieks to paganist folky tunes, melancholic piano interludes, this album has a lot in just 30 odd minutes of runtime. The album feels a bit scattered all over the place. Black Spirit is an excellent song.

I always kinda try to remove as many songs of an album from my playlist after each and every spins. But here I failed. Even the small interludes were so perfectly placed in between, everytime I sink into the mood of the album and completely forget myself till it reaches the end. Almost perfect.
