- Could you make a short presentation of "Aquilon" for our readers

Sébastien : hello !! AQUILON is a dark death metal band from south of France ( Montelimar). Its name symbolizes a violent northern wind and in a way, strenght. The band exists since september 2000 and we have played several gigs and festivals with national and international bands such as GOJIRA(fr), NO RETURN(fr), KRISTENDOM(fr), SCARVE (fr), YATTERING(pl), FURIA(fr), RAIN (ch), AGRESSOR (fr), BENIGHTED(fr), BELENOS(fr) and many more.... the music is mostly composed by Christophe and Alexandre for the raw material, then all the members are involved into developping the music until complete satisfaction. We work all together to choose arrangements and modern influences to make our music as original as we can.
Alex is the one who write the entire lyrics. At the beginning the lyrics were all written in english but now we've chosen our mother tongue to feel closer to our feelings.


- What can you say about this first album ? Where did you find your inspiration?

Christophe : INTRAMEDIA is the consecration of a three years work. So we're very proud and satisfied to be able to present our music to a larger public. It represents the musical width of AQUILON. We are certainly influenced by our favorite bands, but we work to create new patterns instead of simply repeating.


- Can you explain me how you chose to do this special Death Metal with two singers ?

Sabrina : all of us have a death/dark metal base, but each one has brought its own personal tastes from other kinds of music. So AQUILON is the right mix of all the metal influences developped by the 6 musicians.
Alexandre is the main " clear and scream" vocalist. Anne brings his female personal warm tone in contrast. Nevertheless, the using of both combinating voices is not systematic and Anne sings to improve emotions mainly in our darkest songs (my madness, intramedia, etc.).

- Why did you choose to work with the guys behind Gojira ?

Sabrina : We all have appreciated the modern sound of the album " the link" by Gojira.
We thought it was the sound that matches the best with Aquilon's expectations. We contact their studio and went to Ondres in recording session from february to march 2004. We are very satisfied by the work that Laurentx Etxemendi, the sound ingineer, has done on the mixing of all the numerous voices.
After the mixing, Laurent Moulis, our sound ingineer from NBNS Studio at Avignon, has given the whole fullness of the release with a great mastering work.


- How was it with Adipocere Records ? [isn't Frank a bit nasty ? ) ] Is it hard for a young band to find a label nowadays ? How did you do to find it ?

Sébastien : I knew Frank for years with decibels storm. I used to organise underground metal concerts such as the Nuclear Festival or the Metal zone festival in Saint paul trois chateaux. I met frank and in 2003 I decided to give him our MCD " les ombres de quatre murs". During the summer, Frank and Christian (the Adipocère Director) have really appreciated our live perfomance and few months later we were signed.
Finding a label is difficult because you need perseverance and a big work.

- Sincerely, What do you expect from this album ?

Christophe : We feel confident on the impact of Intramedia, and we hope this release is complete enough to appeal to miscellaneous metal fans.


- Concerning concerts, any tour in the making? Any dates? Do you have some bands in mind who with you'd like to share the stage?

Sabrina : We are managed by both Dark Sunrise Touring and Adipocère, and a tour will be fixed for the end of 2004. We strongly invite the public to come and see Aquilon on stage, where we bring the album to life!
It would be great to play with Opeth, Lacuna Coil, Soilwork, or any others band whith such a fame.

- What do you think about the French Metal Scene ?

Sabrina: French bands become more and more professional, due to perseverance, work, and quality of the products : sound production and gigs. The list is long : Destinity, Benighted, Kristendom, Belenos, Sidilarsen and many others?


- Apart from music, what are the hobbies of the band's members?

Sébastien : Each of us have others activities (painting, sport, drawing, graphic design, etc...) but we are mainly keen on music!

We all thank you to listen to our first album " intramedia ". it is the result of 3 years of hard stuffing, and represents the whole inspiration of the aquilon metal.
The second album is now started, all the music will have same elements: dark inspiration, samples, very different voices, loud bass and guitars, groove and other experimentations to keep our originality....
