This is the kind of album that could lead any fan of Céline Dion to suicide, if only they knew the existence of such abominations. No need to tell more, the band's name says it all, Genital Grinder plays... grind! For neophytes and non-French people, Genital Grinder comes from Paris and is one of the most expected bands of the underground scene.
When you hear this avalanche of grind vocals on a wave of death metal riffs, these expectations are not really disappointed, because this is the kind of album that can reconcile grinders and death metallers. Oh well, of course there are these typically grind deliriums ['Cut your dick off': 19 seconds, 'Ham butter slayer': 14 seconds], I am still searching for delicacy and subtlety among this discharge of bad taste, as well in the filthy cover as in the lyrics [ahhh... the poetry of 'Cut your dick off', '10 T de merde dans ta chatte' or 'Cadaverous orgasm'], the vocals can discourage the purists. But this is also an album made by fans that pay tribute to Morbid Angel and Slayer for example, and that use these influences in their music, you only got to hear the Slayer-esque riff of 'Forgiven dead', the thrashy 'Sporraché', the breaks on some songs like 'Winds of destiny' or the intro of 'GLPJBTM' a la Sir Azagtoth... Besides, this is an album made by people that don't take themselves seriously, and this is refreshing to see a band playuing the music they want to without pressure or expectations, but that have made an effort on the production all the same to release a very professional album.
So OK for a metalhead 17 songs for 29 minutes is short, but if you want to have fun, like on the ghost track, a hilarious traditional French ribald song, try Genital Grinder.
