Is not a secret that the Metal scene in Brazil is really big, a lot of bands are coming this days from the land of samba and carnival.
Steel Warrior is a band that hails from Brazil, and like the name may hint you, they play Power Metal, god... I'm so tired of Power Metal bands, all doing the same, all trying to emulate mediaeval times full of knights and epic battles.
Steel Warrior doesn't bring nothing new to the scene, at least lyrically speaking, same 'ol songs of magical spells and kings of forgotten valleys, with all the cheesiness that comes with that of course, I mean, they have a song named "Power Metal"!!!! who the hell names a song Power Metal? No, no no, who the hell includes the word Metal in their songs? I hate when that happens.
Anyway, besides all the awful imagery the band uses, I must say that I found the music quite enjoyable, mostly due to the presence of the vocalist Andre Fabian. He has a very deep and powerful voice that reminded me at times of the great Dio.
Voice apart, the Power Metal these guys play is nothing that we haven't heard before, playing mostly fast paced songs, Steel Warrior doesn't do a good job in differentiate from the rest of the Power Metal bands out there.
Of course, that doesn't mean that the album suck, is a fairly good album, but I fear that will past unnoticed in the international Power Metal scene.
Some songs have real potential, like "Divine Wind Of Sho" and "Farewell Ride", as for the rest, there are too typical Power Metal songs.
Special mention to Boon Yu and his terrific guitar work, sadly not even the guitar and the vocals could save this album from mediocrity.
Too repetitive and done to death for my taste, but maybe some hardcore fans of the genre will like it, is not a bad release, is just too common nowadays.
