Sorrowful and romantic?

As soon I saw the awesome artwork that graces this album I knew I was going to fall in love to this one, add the fact that the band plays Doom Metal (one of my favorite genres), and you got the perfect recipe to seduce me.

Whispering Gallery hails from Holland, and this is their third album so far, and their first one under the banner of Burning Star Records. The band plays Doom Death Metal, but the beauty of the album is not their sad and dismal tunes, is the vocals, three vocalist this band has, one handling the grunts, other the shrieky and high ones and one more to deal with the clean vocals, which are fantastic in my opinion.

The album opens with "The Ghost Inside", a fantastic and gloomy song that show us how the vocals work here, they intertwine and almost play between them, creating a diversity that is more than welcome. This case becomes more evident in the remarkable "Darkness Falls" clean vocals backed up by high (yet not cheesy) vocals in the back, then you got growls backed up by shrieks in the back, this adds so much layers and depth to the music, which is quite melancholic.

Keyboards are another essential element of Whispering Gallery, just listen them in "Beyond The Light", they add a "romantic" touch to the already sorrowful atmosphere of the band.

This band is surely a surprise, I can't believe how they passed unnoticed for so long. Maybe is time to check what they have to offer, if you like Doom Metal there's very little chance you'll be disappointed, trust me, this is top-quality Doom Metal.
