The first song of the demo is already a confirmation of several points. Dreamcatcher is not a band which plays extreme music, but even if they play Heavy, this is a damn aggressive one. A bit like the US Heavy and Power Metal bands, Dreamcatcher plays a nice mix of Heavy and Thrash Metal, and even if it's melodic of course, we're always able to find strong loud riffs and rhythms. The four songs are nice with good guitars soli cool melodies. It's a bit classic on a side that's right but it works and since that the record doesn't suffer of a lot of problems, it's good to listen to it and I'm sure that it will work during live performances.
But well, what are the problems of this Demo? Well, first the recording is not so good and sometime it's even a bit hard to listen to the music of Dreamcatcher. Plus, the voice of Chris (which probably suffer of the average production too?) is a bit messy sometime. I like his harsh vocals but without any doubt it could be better, Chris has the possibility to do it, that's obvious? As you can see, it's more some problems that we can find on a lot of Demos than serious ones, and with better means of production it should be ok in the future.
"Dreamcatcher" is not a revolutionary demo but it's not something trendy and commercial too. The aggressive Heavy Metal of Dreamcatcher is really enjoyable and I'm sure that the band should be able to release a good first album if they follow this road. To be confirmed?
