Holophonics is a new combo made in France. These young people play a kind of Dark "Poppy" Metal, a bit like if Muse and The Old Dead Tree have decided to mix their compositions. For a first album this is really well done, all the tracks of "A Land To End My Flight" are classy and catchy and I think that these guys will be able to find a lot of success with the Metalheads, but also with people who are more into classic rock? If you're a bit open minded I'm sure that you'll like this release!

"A Land To End My Flight" is full of dark and sad mid-tempos compositions. For sure it's a bit similar to The Old Dead Tree with however a big difference, even if we can classify Holophonics in the Metal category, I think that they're a lot more influenced by Pop Rock stuff (Placebo is probably in the list of their influences). It's not a reproach or anything, the proof is that I really like their sound which is original but you must know that the music of Holophonics is soft and not heavy at all. In the end, if you like to listen to Dark music and if you enjoy Pop releases (but of course I'm talking about good Pop?), I'm quite sure that you'll enjoy a lot this album.

Do we have something really wrong here? I don't think so and if I really must say something negative about this album, I can only talk (and that's not so bad really) about the English accent of Stef which is, like with a lot of other French bands, a bit average. However, his voice is extremely good and beautiful so I suppose that it will not be so problematic in the end (and maybe that some of you will even find it charming ). The album is well recorded the songs are well played, there is a real originality in the music of Holophonics so it's maybe not trendy Metalcore but there is a good spirit in the music of the combo with a lot of charm. It's just good to listen to this release, even if it's not some so calling "true" Metal?

"A Land To End My Flight" is a nice first album and I except a lot of good things for this band which has the capacities to attract a lot of different listeners. If you're not looking for brutality but only for beautiful peaceful music, I really recommend "A Land To End My Flight". Holophonics is a good band so let's support them ok?
