Good list. Many bands I haven't heard of, but no Daemonarch?

Thanks. Actually, I should re-do this list, because so much changed in a year. Thanks for reminding me.
But I still wouldn't put Daemonarch in there though
Any other favourites on your part?

Well actually no, I'm not familiar with the Portuguese metal scene, except Moonspell and Daemonarch of course, but I was hoping to find some interesting stuff in here

There is plenty of variation in terms of genres, so depending on what you like, you'll probably find examples of that in the list.
But with new bands such as Ava Inferi, Process Of Guilt and Before The Rain getting to the scene, I think that might be drawing people's attention to us Portuguese. That is great.

It seems most of the Portuguese bands are either Gothic or Death Doom.
Anyway I remember reading some positive stuff about The Firstborn, it sounds interesting enough for me, will check that ASAP I guess.
Good choice on putting "Wolfheart" in the second place, but I think it deserve #1 though.

Check out this list as well, also pretty good: http://www.metalstorm.net/users/list.php?list_id=110.
Maybe the good ones are No, there's plenty, you just have to look into it, like in every other scene.
Maybe you haven't heard "Sinphonic" then! It's just more personal to me and that's the only reason it is in first place, not necessarily because it was the best. "Wolfheart" was more important for the history of metal made in Portugal, for many reasons.

Added band's genres, hopefully that'll help too.

Sweet list! I love specialized stuff like this. And thanks for the genres - I'll definitely check a few of these out.
Did you not dig Heavenwood or ThanatoSchizo this year?
....And I'll always have a special place in my heart for Oratory though I wouldn't expect to find their albums anywhere NEAR a top list

Glad you like it! And I did like Thanato of course, I should add them to the list, thank you for reminding me. Heavenwood not so much, it didn't click, I thought it was too pretentious somehow, but many people seem to love it.
Oh, you know Oratory?! That's so awesome ahah I thought I was the only one. How did you find out about them?

Oratory.. I don't know how I heard of them! It was so long ago, they were one of the first power metal bands I got into Back when I joined MS there was MS Radio and short sound clips on most band pages so I found a lot of random bands here. I have Beyond Earth and while it's pretty basic and bare, it's SOOO addictive
I could never get a hold of Interludium and am sad they never released anything else. Although: my version of Beyond Earth has their cover of "Eternal Flame" as a hidden track after "A New Quest." It's one of their best songs and I like it better than the original. Truly a hidden gem.
