The Best Metal From The Baltic States

This is the first list in the series im planning to do, in which I'm searching for the best metal from smaller/overlooked countries. Since this is the first time I'm making a list, please give me your thoughts about the formatting, and give me your ideas and what could I possibly improve. I was toying with the idea of adding a short review to each position on the list, but I know from experience that if the list is too long, people could lose interest. Also tell me what country would you like to see next. 🙏
Format of the list: Band name - Album name - Country of origin - Year - Genre - Release type

Any kind of advice is welcomed (or recommendations of albums I missed). If at least one person checks one album, because of this list, then it served its purpose.

Always good to see lists like this, concerning overlooked countries.

Thanks for checking out, any ideas for the next country/ies to cover? I though about Spain/Portugal/European Microstates/Balkans (would probably have to split between West and East) or some Latin America country.

As far as I'm concerned asian countries are a lot more overlooked than anywhere else. You could try that and the research is bound to bring some interesting stuff too. Asian bands tend to do things outside of the box.

Good idea, some asian countries have a ton of bands so I'd probably have to split them a lot, something like Northern South-East Asia, Southern South-East Asia, Japan, China, Korea, Islamic countries, etc. Some of the most underrated metal albums that I know is from Middle East, so I'd be thrilled to research them more.

Not sure but I like your idea to research Middle Eastern bands!

Would’ve liked to see some representation beyond Black/Death and the one or two Doom bands but I love the concept and it’s a great list with few bands I’ve heard so I’ll be checking some of these out for sure! For the next one you should do metal from Africa

Thanks for commenting. I admit there's not much of diversity in this list, but I'm sort of limited to the scenes that naturally were created in those countries. I listen to most of the main metal genres, it's just that there are not that many different bands in those countries. I could expand and forcefully include some mediocre (in my opinion) bands from other genres, but the main idea behind this list is to only include bands and albums that I think are at least holistically good, and I would recommend them with 100% good conscience. I'd like my next lists to be more interesting, but I'm somewhat dependant on the countries' individual scene. If I made a list about Chile, there would be a lot of Thrash here, If I made a list about Colombia there would be a lot of Brutal Death Metal, etc. Thank you for the critique, and Africa is one of the destinations I was thinking about as well - not too many bands, so researching them wouldn't take as much time. Thank you again and take care 👋

Oh I totally understand, it’s hard to find diverse metal from countries with small scenes. I think it’s a great list!

A very impressive list honestly. The fact that half of the bands on this list don’t even have profiles hints to the extensive research put in. Props.

I also second that Africa list.

Thank you for the kind words, although I'll admit that "Heavy Metal of Eastern Bloc" and "Lithuanian Metal" youtube channels have been very useful. Baltic countries don't have that many bands, which is why I wanted to do this list first. Take care 👋

I remember liking Phrenetix' debut album Fear quite a lot. You might want to give that one a listen.

Btw: Love this idea for a list.

Thank you very much. Heresiarh has indeed some very memorable, layered melodies that make it stand out in the genre. I didn't like their debut as much, I think the demo had a better pacing, but it might be good enough to check it out (even tho half of it shares the same tracks).
