Alestorm is the only band you can trust in 2020, because they're giving you exactly what you don't want: nu metal trap beats.*

I dislike the three singles greatly, but the rest of the album makes up for it! "Wooden Leg Part 2" is really something

The Deluxe Edition has a second CD with all the songs in (16th Century Version). I thought that it would sound like traditional old pirate songs like the ones in Assassin's Creed: Black Flag. Boy was I mistaken! They're actually half-ass quality chip tune versions and not 16th century at all. I should have known better 'cause this is Alestorm after all

This is a strange, strange album.

Some songs are great but other songs suffer from a bit of untapped potential. Tortuga for one is terrible, and the worst song in their discography but thankfully (imo) the rest of the album makes up for it, it has grown on me with some more listens.

My favourite songs: Pirates Scorn (awesome cover), Chomp Chomp, Fannybaws, Call of the Waves and Wooden Leg Pt. 2.

Shit Boat (No Fans) is hilarious, however my main thought is I prefer Back Through Time and Sunset on the Golden Age. Curse of the Crystal Coconut lacks the same creativity. I miss the songs that incorporate more styles of metal, if you know what I mean. Songs like Death Throes of The Terrorsquid which has amazing black metal sections, and songs like 1741 Battle of Cartegena. This band makes awesome sections in their longer songs, and have always thought those longer songs beat the shorter alcohol themed 3min songs.

So apparently the singles suck and the rest of the album makes up for it. It doesn't.

Just another good Alestorm album. Shit Boat (No Fans) is easily the best song.

Like a lot of people, the singles didn't have me too excited about this. However, the album is a nice surprise. If you like Alestorm, it's another Alestorm album. I've found myself enjoying their longer tracks, and Wooden Leg Part 2 stood out as my favourite track so far. I wholeheartedly agree that Tortuga can get in the bin. Besides that, it's a solid enough addition to their catalogue. It also provides enough decent material for future live shows, which is where the band excel.

My favorite songs: Zombies ate my pirate ship, Tortuga, Call Of The Waves, Pirate metal Drinking Crew, and Henry Martin.
However, nothing they've done afterwards beats their first 2 albums, imo.

... They sure know how to make catchy songs.

Songs are really catchy.... Sound like disco-metal or party-metal. From album to album they write more and more "catchy songs" and with this album they came beyond my disco tolerance. This is real disco-metal! I don't like it as we all know they can play real metal not just funny and catchy songs arranged as metal. They can compose and play epic music but not this time. There are 2 good songs on that album: Tortuga and Wooden Leg Part 2 - all the rest is arranged with too many "barks", too much electronics and with dancing style. In overall album is good but not remarkable. Funny and melodic - but not real metal... I want them back to Back Through Time or Sunset On The Golden Age type of music.

I realize I'm very much in the minority here, but I can't get enough of this album. I will also go so far as to say that this is my favorite Alestom album. I love all their stuff, though their last one was the weakest IMO. This one is just so fun and ridiculous so if you're into that, and you thought "Hangover" was their best song until now, you'll love this album. (And yeah, I know it was a cover.) That said, I totally understand why people don't like it so much.

"Zombies Ate My Pirate Ship" is my new jam, probably closely followed by "Call of the Waves." Also, "Wooden Leg, Pt. 2" is the best sequel song I never knew I needed. And an epic one at that.

Tl;dr - It definitely has a more pop vibe than their previous albums. If you're into that sort of thing, you'll love this album. If not... well give it a shot anyway.
