Seeing that their previous studio albums "Angels Cry" and "Holy Land" have been magnificent, the less that we could expect from the next Angra's opus was a great album. Unfortunately, "Fireworks" is not much of an album. Some of the songs are really good but the whole thing sounds strange. You see, it's good music but it's not like "usual Angra music". Thus, songs such as 'Lisbon' or 'Wings Of Reality' are great but the whole release is mediocre compared to their masterpiece "Holy Land".

A different sounding album altogether compared to Angra's previous releases, but it only goes to show how much the band were willing to experiment. My main quip with this album is that Matos' vocals are weaker than usual, but whether that's to suit the difference in sound or not is probably understandable. Bonus track 'Rainy nights' is bizarre but is suitable for a closer to the album.

I actually really like this album. Dare I say more than Holy Land? Holy Land has 2 really really great tracks "Nothing To Say" & "Make Believe" while Fireworks has a larger number of interesting tracks. Take the beautiful "Gentle Change" where Andre Matos literally shines or "Lisbon" & "Speed" etc.

Lisbon has been the alarm clock on my phone since you could put music on phones.

A comment that literally makes me happy

I think I might have Fireworks as my second favorite Angra album after Temple of Shadows.
It strikes a great balance between the progressiveness of the first two albums and more pure Power Metal.
