Each year, you may find yourself searching the melodic black spectrum and come across a gem or two, and here's one of those very gems: The Decline Of The Enlightened Gods, a delightful treat for those who wish to reminisce the 90s melodic black scene.

Mariusz Lewandowski did this cover art. I wonder if this was one of his last paintings.

Mariusz Lewandowski did this cover art. I wonder if this was one of his last paintings.

No, that's actually quite an old one. Lewandowski painted it in 2018, just a few months after he had finished the artwork for Bell Witch's Mirror Reaper.
However, you can take a look at his very last work here.

Ah thanks for the info.

I'm really looking forward to hearing this.

I've read some great reviews and the two pre released tracks sound amazing.

This is pretty great! I like especially Black Reign Awaits and Frozen Kings. Second part of the album gets a bit more generic but Necrophobic cover was nice surprise in the end. Vocals remind me of Tribulation. This band has the same Indian label as Vorga so I might have to check other bands too.

Album cover art is outstanding like other paintings from the same guy. I didn't know he was deceased. It's really a shame. May his works live and impress!

A great album with a classic meloblack sound right here with it's aggressively energetic shrieks, ferociously fast and melodic tremelo riffing, and powerful blast beating.

"Frozen Kings" is going to be one of my my most listend to songs this year, it's a trve meloblack gem "Black Reign Awaits", "Wanderer of Times", and "Cosmic Black Chaos" are also very great songs too.

Top notch melodic black indeed! After In Aphelion last year, this sounds like the next Necrophobic album!

Now if only this had a vinyl release, i'd absolutely buy it.

Now if only this had a vinyl release, i'd absolutely buy it.

I think the execs from Transcending Obscurity are hesitant to immediately press records for a lot of new releases due to the financial risk. They've done it before, but they're a pretty small label based in India. That said, they're also selling tote bags and coffee mugs, so I'm not sure how their merch budget is doing.

They do press a lot of their releases in limited vinyl though. I have the Revulsion and Vorga LPs, and they make an effort with the packaging and colours so I'm hopeful.

Even their CD packages look nice; I'm assuming they could release a nice splatter edition alongside a traditional black LP if merch and CD sales support it.

Some may find this odd, perhaps even illogical, but I consider CD's to be legacy tech. I don't even have a way to play them anymore (well, outside of gaming consoles). For a while i bought CD's as a way to support the band and then i'd just listen on Youtube. That said, culture is so disposable these days. Vinyl is my way of keeping something real.

I agree. I still have a CD player to play the 400-500 CDs I have (occasionally) but I haven't bought one for years.

I admittedly consider the value aspect as well. Most 2nd hand CDs are worthless, whereas vinyl certainly isn't.

Thanks for mentioning Vorga here. I missed it last year.
