Man, I was so ready for new DragonForce 4 years ago, too bad it's finally come at a time when I'm not particularly interested anymore. 2019's Extreme Power Metal saw them take imo a better direction, but the singles so far just sound like pop-DF.

Surprisingly, they found some speed again. "The Killer Queen" and "Pixel Prison" are actually quite good and the only two listenable songs on the album. "Doomsday Party" and especially "Space Marine Corp" are atrocious though.

I actually like a lot of what's going on here. With the exception of Kingdom Of Steel, and Space Marine Corp, it's a pretty fun and different album. Even Doomsday Party grew on me over time. The fast songs are all very good!

Compared to Marc Hudson's 2023 solo album it's less heartwarming and more outright silly, but it's a DF album so what can you expect. The opener is the best song here and goes up with the best of the band. The rest of the album is decently fun.

The skit in the middle of Space Marine Corp is pretty bad, but considering I've not checked out a new Dragonforce album since Ultra Beatdown, it's actually alright as an album, has some nice melodicism and has more than one gear (I used to spin Inhuman Rampage a lot in high school,, which was mostly just full speed ahead). A high 6/low 7 for me

I know people enjoy this stuff and that's alright. I just have hard time listening to this kind riff salad. Dragonforce have always been over the top band with faster than lightning guitar solos and stuff, but after some time the niche gets boring. Having million things flying at you isn't really fun when the songs themselves aren't that good or memorable to begin with.
