Infernal Overkill is the first full-length and a defining album by the German thrash titans, Destruction. Yes, they had released an EP the previous year, entitled Sentence Of Death, but Infernal Overkill is the release that really showcases what this band would eventually become: A top-tier driving force in the Teutonic thrash metal scene.

This one surpasses even 'Eternal Devastation' for me, their best album I think. Every track is memorable and there is definitely no filler.

A little patchy and some sloppy and boring drum work but the riffs are cool.

Destruction's debut album certainly shows that the band were quite eccentric and full of adrenaline when it came to playing music. No song on here really disappoints, and even though I still personally think that the vocals needed some work to be just as effective as the rhythm section (And before anyone asks, I KNOW that the band are from Germany), it remains solid and consistent throughout. A personal highlight for me is definitely 'Tormentor' or 'Bestial invasion'. The former has some wicked drum work throughout alongside those excellent riffs, whereas the latter is written to perfection.

I like more the production on this album than Eternal Devastation, which was the reason I didn't enjoy it as it should be.

Lots of energy, talented guitarist, this and Eternal Devastation were pretty good especially and mostly in the riff department, downhill after that.

A really Good Album and cool guitar solos! "The Ritual" is very very good
The only thing that i dont really like is that in most of the songs they play the same guitar riffs over and over again..

Ditto.

To be honest, I also don't like these vocals that much, they're not bad but kinda weak and sound bored.

For the love of thrash I tortured my ears waiting and hoping that this will burst into life somehow. The production is so bad and what is annoying is that if you strain you can hear some quality riffing and solos buried in this mud like in "unconscious mind". Damn it! I am trying to enjoy my thrash not concentrate like I am reading theoretical physics.

Highlights: When it ends

You are not metal enough until you visit Kenya. The cradle of mankind, where man learnt first to work with stones and first enjoyed the sounds produced by banging stones which later influenced metal in all its sounds and genres.

For me their best album. It surpasses Eternal Devastation.
It is, considering the time, already a quite technical approach, with interesting song structures and riffing -- no filler songs.
And it is fast as hell. Enjoyable debut.
The vocals drag it down a bit, but hell, this is 80s German thrash metal, guys.

The best album of Destruction and the best album of the whole thrash metal for me ! If this is 1985 the production was excellent, riffs are strong and energetic , even played like in a trance - the recent live album Live Attack reminds a bit the old glory, but life performances 30 years later sound weaker and chaotic comparing to crazy passion and energy of this album. The best tracks ? Almost all for me 10/10 ! But the best are Death Trap, Invincible Force, Antichrist, Black Death , Tormentor, The Ritual ;-) so almost the whole album. Destruction never repeated such a good production - the next highlight was live album - Live Without Sense - for me also the best live thrash metal album of all times. Metallica , Slayer ? phi !
I think they were very tallented but unfortunately next productions were mistakes - Eternal was still acceptable, but already somehow much weaker in the production, Release From Agony is the worst produced thrash album of all time; In this respect all the killers from this album are the great highlights of first years off thrash metal . Destruction in 1985 was much better than Slayer or Kreator and I still love Infernal Overkill (writing this wearing the t-shirt of Infernal Overkill ;-)))
