Interesting way to kick off arguably one of the most famous rock bands' career, in which this album presents a fine line between traditional British heavy metal (sometimes even in the vein of iron maiden's self-titled debut) and pompous hard rock. Their next album is a tad more thought-provoking in terms of songwriting, but this album is pretty good for a debut!

Well I guess this is one way to play heavy metal, I cannot say it's the most felicitous one, but supposedly it's good enough (?). The year is 1980 and it's hard to say where is the line between rock and metal, and on this album the band seems kind of lost with what they're trying to do. I get a bit mixed feeling about this album; on one hand it's instrumentally pretty good, but vocally it doesn't work as well. The vocals itself aren't bad tbh, rather the arrangements somewhat ruin some songs like "Satellite" and "When The Walls..." that otherwise aren't bad songs at all.

"Overture" is easily the best composition in here, almost like old Saxon greatness. From the rest "Sorrow Is A Woman" (and maybe "Satellite") is (are) what I can name as good song(s).
