An hour-long heavy metal classic that grabs you by the guts and moves them to the rhythm of its guitars.

Wow what a year 1995 was for metal. Only looking at what germany put out: Land of the Free (Gamma Ray), Heart of Darkness (Grave Digger), Imaginations from the Other Side (Blind Guardian), Masquerade (Running Wild), World of Sin (Paragon) and ofcourse this one. Pretty unbelievable. Now a days your happy if 1 or 2 real good albums come out in a year.

So this is a massive album, 17 songs if you count all the bonus tracks. And it really holds up for the most part of the playtime. The bonus tracks aren't that intresting but still a nice addition. The production is raw and heavy and the riffs are often very thrashy. The album also feature their first traditional ballad, All this Time, and it's still one of their most powerful songs. Love that acoustic guitar intro. They truly found a winning formula here and this should be considered among Rage best works.

Yes, indeed. It is with all its 17 songs -- of course -- too long. I find it already a bit too long if you stop counting after 14. But since you have one of the album's highlights clocking in at track no. 14 (All this time) you will be rewarded for holding up to the end.
The best track on the album is In a Nameless Time imo. I also like Sent by the Devil.
Many of the rest are only good at best.
Overall still a very good album.
