After 38 years since Rush's debut album, it's impressive how this band manages to stay so fresh. They have the ability to continue playing progressive rock music with so much intent, without emulating their old albums or rehashing their classics. Rush, decade after decade continue playing for their old fan base, but were able to captivate younger audiences. Their music is fresh, heavy, melodic, conceptual and rhythmic… and it is so good!! A great example of these adjectives is their latest album entitled Clockwork Angels.

Rating: 8 It's good and there are some good tracks but this is more derivative than I was hoping for. Many of these songs just don't have as much of a unique identity. They don't grab and shake me like Snakes And Arrows or the classic albums. This is a jammier album than they usually do, and they're totally allowed to do a less focused album with more noise and less direction but I would rather have more amazing instant classic songs.

All in all a nice album.

Rating: 9 Holy fuck. This album blew my expectations away. I had no idea Rush had this in them. You would think after 40 fucking years it would be hard to come up with something fresh and original...but they did. I hear stuff on this album I never thought I'd hear on a Rush album. The performances by the three are best I've ever heard. Thank you Nick Raskulinecz, thank you for prying this out of my favorite band of all time.

Just wow....

Rating: 9 This album far exceeded my expectations! Every song is an amazing listen and it's very upredictable. Kudos to the gents for still making amazing music after all these years and giving us Rush fans something to brag about, yet again!

Rating: 8 I've always liked Rush, but they've been kinda just meh the past little while.. This is by far my favorite album from then in at least about 20 years
Iron Nostarion - 29.06.2012 at 17:58
Rating: 10 This album is an absolute masterpiece. Experimentation, new and fresh sound, yet still the old Rush. The melodies, the lyrics, the way Geddy pursues his voice. Yes, this is not Moving Pictures, but it's certainly the best thing to come out from the band ever since.
K†ulu - 02.08.2012 at 19:41
  I totally can't get into this album; in fact, I cannot sit through more than three songs, and Geddy's vocals are also annoying to me here...

I totally can't get into this album;

Awww Ktulu Have you checked out Rush's entire discography? Bits and pieces? Are you a big Rush fan? Casual? I am trying to find out why this album isn't your thing.

Bits and pieces, man. I gave a listen to everything up to Hemispheres + Moving Pictures. I like 2112 and especially Hemispheres, being still undecided about Moving Pictures. So these three albums are the only ones I know decently.

Musical analysis is interesting though... go ahead and figure out why I don't like it.
