It has been a while since the last time a Lucassen tune was stuck in my head properly. It really has been a long time. No, it was not Guilt Machine album, and not the last Ayreon album, and not even the first Stream Of Passion, although that one had some really good moments. Last time it really clicked for me was Ayreon's The Human Equation. This time it seems to be different, whether for good or bad time will tell but the first two weeks have been filled with all positive emotions.

25.11.2010 Arjen is back with his band of merry men for the follow-up to 2002's Space Metal. Following that album wasn't an easy task, but now eight years on and we have yet another fantastic album with all the Arjen and Star One hallmarks.

Talked to Ed Warby last Friday and he psyched as hell about his drumming on this album.
Not for me though.

Very much looking forward to this one.

Listening to it now, pretty epic.
Ag Fox - 22.10.2010 at 23:42
Rating: 9 Pretty good indeed, but the debut seems better for me (so far). though saying that, I only gave it one spin, so time will tell
Malevolent-Jim - 25.10.2010 at 01:01
Rating: 10 I thought it was really good..But the album felt a little short.

Some really great tracks on here.
!J.O.O.E.! - 26.10.2010 at 19:15
Rating: 6 Because the cover art so is so damn epic and expansive I think I'll try this out.

Actually it reminds me of one of the pre-rendered backdrops right before the final boss on Legend of Dragoon.

Rating: 9 Omg... awesome prog

okay, I take back what I said earlier. I've just finished my second spin and I already know that this is a lot more consistent than Space Metal
Keitaro333 - 10.11.2010 at 12:55
Im not a huge fan of the first one (i am of Ayreon though) but i really like this album. Some pretty original sounding songs and ofc great singers.

Jeeers - 16.11.2010 at 19:59
Rating: 6 Mediocre and cheezzzy! But that doesn't surprise me because I don't like Ayreon either except some 5 really good songs. On the other hand Guilt Machine was a pleasant surprise for me....
Vikcen - 09.12.2010 at 01:31
The intro and Digital Rain really awesome, the rest of the album... .

I agree; I enjoyed Guilt Machine a lot. This one did not impress me at all; I didn't like the female vocalist at all, it sounded like she was trying too hard and Damian Wilson almost ruined it for me. Some guitar and keyboards parts were ok but don't save the album...

Rating: 9 The best album of 2010 for me. May even be better than Space Metal which I didn't think was possible.
Paradox0 - 07.01.2011 at 07:01
Rating: 6 Just a bland boring album. I guess I really don;t care much for Arjen's more slower and steady guitar work. "Human See, Human Do" was the only song i really liked on this album, even if I felt it dragged on a bit beyond its staying power.

Rating: 8 So glad to see this currently on the Top Albums of user votes. It really deserves it!

Rating: 9 Why didn't Swano use his deep voice more on this?
Zephod - 24.09.2013 at 20:06
Rating: 6 I really really like the first song. I don't even know why because it's a total cheesefest. After that song it gets really boring. Never listened to the full album because I just don't ever get to the end

Yet you gave it a 6.

That 6 was given out a long time after that comment owing to the fact I never revisited the album

You really need to stop worrying about other people's scores.

Seeing as you don't know what my methods for scoring something is you have no idea what is and isn't consistent

You take a lot of stress over scores.

Not good for heart and......eyes.

Well, it happens when some users finally give a vague score and later on give album a thorough listen. Count me in. No big deal. Only in Joe case, he forgot to check out the record again. Don't taunt him. He's a lovely kid.

Btw, how is Oktoberfest going on?

I still find it amusing that he and some other MS'ers have the illusion that more spins do not influence the initial opinion on an album, yet I've seen them change their scores quite often.

It's not an illusion. And I changed my score simply to give more credence to albums that I actually remember; I frequently go through my entire set of scores and downrate things i don't remember and am unlikely to revisit. Also, It's not an inconsistency, my comment is simply an anachronism to the updated score.

Oh and JOOE, I am surprised you like this. I haven't listened to it in a while and I remember digging it, isn't this over-the-top progressive metal wankary at it's finest? I thought you cannot stand prog metal?

I like some prog, but I love anything sci-fi so I might have been influenced by that I can't say I remember anything about this but these days I'd probably go to Chimp Spanner for my prog fix.
