Noooo. It's got to be a joke
I did like Shallow Life but it was the most they could do without screwing up everything. They can't go on with this modern-like thing OMFG
The new Linkin Park songs are just shit and this Bullet for My Valentine I only know that is metalcore stuff, another shit. I like new metal a little but my beloved Lacuna Coil should NEVER get into this. I miss the gothic metal times of theirs.
- Hoping this album will be good somehow - =/

Goddamnit I really want to like this album but they make it so difficult. There are some good riffs and parts of songs start to drag me in, but then Andrea's "singing" or some poppy break down or some ultra cheesy lyric pops up. Even Cristina seems to be trying too hard sometimes, I love her voice as it is I don't know why she felt the need to try to sound more...what, fucking diva? I don't understand why they had to go in this direction, but I guess it's not too surprising, just disappointing.

This album lacks one of the basic LC elements - atmosphere. No ideas, not even one song to love...just cold, forgettable sound of a band that keeps disappointing (even me, their devoted fan) with each album.
But...still better than Shallow life.

I've seldom checked out this band in the past, and am listening to this album for the sake of listening to more 2012 albums, and it's actually pretty good. I'm only on track two, but so far both songs are well written pop/nu metal tunes.
EDIT: Upon finishing the entire album, yup, this is damn good.

They just get worse and worse. More plastic, less atmosphere and heart. I only listened to three songs (including "Trip The Darkness") and stopped there... But today or tomorrow I'll "have to" listen to it because I write for a webzine and they want me to review it.
If this is how Italy is musically represented abroad (along with Rhapsody *cough cough bleurgh --- puke*) then I can eternally weep in solitude and silence.
Thankfully we have Zu.

Good album. Too bad none of the physical editions have the bonus song "Soul Inmate". Only the iTunes version has it which I find a disgrace. Nothing beats a physical copy and ltd. editions make it more precious to have certain albums (although alot of them only offer crappy and worthless goodies). But to offer INCOMPLETE albums... no THANKS. I'll just download.

I think it is great album. I have stoped to listen this band ...many years ago but i think they are good mark. i like that they didnt stop to play hard ..(the gathering did) and i like their new songs - even this softer like number 6 on this CD. I always miss guitar solos but on this album there are some...very nice, solo should be - 'a summary of the work'. I love that they sound like 'band' - all together. Cristina voice is more mature! I wish them all the best and hope they manage to play even rock, blues, funky and fusion and other kind of musical styles...

Not bad. It has a number of enjoyable tracks, but a song consisting predominantly of a chorus like "PHALOW MEE, PHALOW MEE!" can be interesting for only so long. And that's what most songs are like.
Slightly above average and that's about it. Scabbia is as hot as ever, though.

Well,i am probably one of those LC fans that don't expect the band to go back to what they were doing over a decade ago, because their popularity is too great. That said, 'Dark Adrenaline' is much heavier than its predecessor, and 'My Spirit' is a great song, but the fact that too many of the songs are actually half-baked, monotonous pieces of 'music' brings this rating down a bit for me. And the people who keep saying it's dark? Paramore are darker than this. And that's saying something. Just because their leading single has 'Darkness' in doesn't make them dark.

Oh, Brother! Reading some of the comments regarding this CD has just again made me realize that even Good Taste in music can't buy Good Taste in Metal....
I really don't know what some of these guys are on about! This is a freakin' AWESOME album!!!
AND, by the way, the REM cover is BRILLIANT!!! Anyone can cover another artist's song with exactly the same tone/melody. It takes real creativity to re-write it for your sound in such a way that it still pays homage to the original...
Personally I thought Shallow Life was a little light in the pants - but with Dark Adrenaline LC are back with a bang!!!!
Cudo's with regards to the lyrical theme, for some reason I was thinking Arch Enemy's Khaos Legions when I read & listened to the lyrics... Good to know the dissatisfaction is wide-spread...

Scabbia's vocals ruined it. She had a chance to save it in the 2nd verse (I think), where she started the line in a high voice. If she stayed there for the whole verse it would have worked, but she dropped down about 3/4s through it. It's like the producer (I assume) kept telling her to move her voice around rather than staying where it was best.
Like you said, a good cover soulds like both the original artistand the covering artist at the same time. This one did neither.
Remove it and Fire and you've got a really good album.
Also, shouldn't they be listed as alternative/nu metal now? Shallow Life and Dark Adrenaline arn't really gothic, are they.

This album has two songs I really love; Give Me Something More and End Of Time.
I think the cover of Losing My Religon is absolurely horrid.
I love the overall feel of the album more than in Karmacode and Shallow Life.
But still, everything besides Give Me Smth more and End Of Time bores me.
So I have no idea, how to rate it.

I have been listening to Lacuna Coil since their very first EP in 1998. I always thought they never quite fitted in the "Gothic" genre à la Theatre of Tragedy. I don't like In a Reverie and I think their current direction is the right one for them.
One thing they're really good at is the vocal play between Scabbia and Ferro. Sure Ferro will never be an extraordinary singer, but I don't think they would replace him, since he has been there right from the start of the band.
Highlights for me are Give Me Something More, My Spirit and UpsideDown. I give this album a 7.

I know I'll get some shit for this but I'm not one to pussyfoot. They sold out; pure and simple. Once "Shallow Life" hit I knew they'd go further and further into what they are now: commercial corporate rock. Look, many bands change and evolve over time - true artists have to - however, they manage to maintain at least most of their initial fanbase while expanding it. I gave this album a chance but all I heard was substandard music which is clearly contrived, not from the heart, simplified, watered down, and deliberately - that's right - commercial. So, like other bands who have done the same (and I need mention no names) I'm simply moving on from them as there are way too many other bands to focus on/listen to/support rather than wallow in disappointment over one.
Oh, and I love how in this day and age if one doesn't like someone or something they're automatically deemed a "hater", something that has become outmoded as it is absurd. Apparently if you have a differing opinion and simply don't like a certain person or band or whatever, some people - especially rabid fanboys (and in the case of this band most bark at you like flea-bitten mutts behind fences because they want to be in the good graces of diva-becoming Ms. Scabbia) and fangirls (and in the case of this band they're mostly tweens or just hitting their twenties and have no qualms spewing their adolescent/I'm-still-finding-myself-and-I-hate-the-world ire at you which is both cute and mildly annoying) - will protest and call you a hater solely based on your not liking who or what you see/hear, be it a musician/band, movie, or even a certain type of food.
"Haters gonna hate!" Wow, ghetto slang really does reach beyond its own. It's become too common and I'm surprised that holy lunatic Rick Santorum hasn't uttered it yet.
Seriously, they get worked up oh so easily over someone not being in accord with their own viewpoints, tastes, etc. and it's outright hilarious! They take themselves - and the music - far too serious! A lot of fans of this band are no exception. You ever walk past a vehicle and are momentarily startled when you hear loud, harsh barking...only to look to your left or right to find it's a little doggeh frantically jumping up and down while cursing you out in doggeh talk? Well, that's what it's like when I see such posts online. Then you go all Ace Ventura on them. "Oh chee booboo! Oh chee booboo bua bah!"
So, for those of you who stick with this band in spite of them becoming yet another commercial corporate rock band, have at it. I on the other hand will stick with bands who play from the heart, don't stray from their roots for, uh, commercial opportunities, and let it be.

Eish!! That's South-African for WTF...
I'm always amazed at the critics, the negative ones anyway... Oh, well, everyone has a right to an opinion...
However, a note on critique-ing Music in general: The first thing it needs to do, in my humble opinion, is entertain or move you. It basically needs to speak to your mind/heart. If it doesn't do that, and sometimes it does take a little time to click, it's not worth it - to YOU... However, other people, in different places in their lives, with different challenges facing/threatening them, with different backgrounds/cultures WHATEVA!!! may actually find it to be exactly what they need to express, in that moment, their feelings...
Oops, gone and went way too heavy there...
Eish!! Point is: Different strokes for different folks... Live & Let Live... & F the Rest...
(Thought the packaging was quite cool, got the double CD with the fold-open...)

First Listen. Pretty disappointed. Too much Rock and not enough Metal.
Highlights: My Spirit, Trip The Darkness, End of Time.
Lowlights: The same old formula they have used once again. Electronics. Not enough Christina vocals.
I would be happier in the next 5 years if LC re-recorder their first 5 albums, 1 per year, instead of releasing any more of the same repetitive music from the last 3 albums...
P.S. The REM cover isn't too bad.

Andrea Ferro ruins everything. His English is horrible, he's got terrible pronaunciation and accent. Too bad he's a founding member, they should kick him out of the band. He ruins the entire experience.
