Don't like Dio that much, as he sounds monotonous to me but this album has something really nice. I like it, recommended ...

I respect everything Dio has done for metal, and I'll always love his earlier works, but this is absolutely shit. Monotonous, mid-paced half-assed heavy metal that just drones on and on.

This isn't Dio's worst album, but it's definitely near the bottom of the pile as far as quality is concerned. It's not as bad as "Angry Machines", but it's probably his second worst effort. I think I'd place both "Sacred Heart" and "Lock Up The Wolves" above this one, and they aren't great albums themselves...

This is by far my favorite metal album. I was captivated when I was a kid listening to this. Keep in mind in 2003 I was only 10 and the album was three years old. Just the story that is told with this album had me in awe. Not many bands have truly mastered how to keep an audience hanging on every part of the album. Magica Story (Track 14) is something I always come back and listen to when I am studying or playing games. This is a great album.

A good way for Dio to sound relevant in the 21st Century, and so much better than the previous couple of albums. The robotic narrative voices during the interludes for me are completely unnecessary and don't quite fit, but the instrumental performance here is powerful and solid. Dio by this point in his career was showing his age, of course, but the vocal delivery is still good.
