The main reason why I'll never be able to bear death and black metal and their thousands of variants (sorry 90% of Metal Storm users) is that the first thing I look for in music, more important than musicianship, lyrics, and production, is happiness. Music must be a safe rest from the various worries of the "external world", something that makes me feel good, so I simply can't understand the enjoyment in listening to genres that have the opposite effect on me. But maybe it's just me.

Something you probably haven't stumbled across but deserves your very much in demand attention. I mean, how can you ignore an album with a title like that? Fact is, you can't. This record is backed by an actual scientific research. True story. Sometimes a bit djenty (ain't that a hot potato nowadays?), featuring cool soundscapes, often including bad ass riffs - this Jolly album is overall a beautifully structured record. If it ain't going to make you happy, it should at least make you feel good.
Taste it here!

A case of better late than never, heuh... Anyway, great pick! Have this one since the spring of 2011 and it's had its fair share of spins in my car cd-player, which is always a good indication for me of the quality of a cd. The sometimes a bit poppy approach does work great with the complexity of some of the songs. I am definitely looking out for part two with Phase Three and Phase Four on them.

Better late than never indeed. Didn't come across it soon enough, otherwise I would have made the effort to put it up for awards. As it was, the lists were locked. Funny thing is, though, I wasn't overwhelmed when I first listened to it. It grew on me as the time went by.
I.

Jolly have moments of greatness, but there's way too much melodic monotony here for my own particular tastes. I do come back from time to time, though.

Both Audio guides are really nice albums. This album is better though I'd say. Part two is good but doesn't quite plateau as high as Part one does and Part one is far catchier overall than Part two.. Part one seems to have a bit more life in it while part two is kind of flat in some areas more so than part one. Both have a couple songs I tend to skip.
