A Fair Dream Gone Mad is one heck of a progressive metal album, debut or not. Did that just get your attention? Not convinced? Well, you won't be expecting many of the clichés of this sub-genre here, nor references to Dream Theater, Riverside, Fates Warning and such.

Whoa! Where did this come from?!
What In The Silence have managed to achieve with this, their self-financed & independently released debut is nothing short of remarkable. The beautiful yet haunting atmosphere, intricate songwriting & talented musicianship displayed throughout this album will leave you spellbound. This may well just be one of the best debut albums of the year. A must for all fans of progressive metal.
Go check them out.

I've been focusing on this album the last few days. I have to keep reminding myself THIS IS A DEBUT RECORD. Loose around the edges, the production could use some tidying up and the variety of songs isn't the best but after all that I look forward to hearing what these guys come up with next. Bright future.

High-quality simple songwriting. Leans further towards rock rather than metal IMO...

Looking back on the genre debate on this band, something has dawned on me. In The Silence reminds me of the new prog (or post-prog) movement that is present in the softer rock along the likes of Anathema. Another modern metal band that comes to mind is Chaos Divine, who have a bit more aggressive sound on their latest album. Looks like there's a post-progressive metal scene emerging.

This is an incredible release for a debut. One of my favorite albums this year. Definitely got something special going on here.

I keep coming back to this album after 6 months of listening to it. The only thing I wish this had was some death metal vocals to add some harshness, but that's just my opinion. Very good debut indeed.

I was searching something similar to In The Silence genre then i read this, i listened their 2nd album and i agree 100% with you...
These guys deserve more, u all should listen "The Human Connection" album, but don't forget they are not a clone of IThS, just the same genre so don't expect they to sound like IThS...
Good listening...
