In 2014, the Belgians in Emptiness threw out Nothing But The Whole, a thundering album of black and death metal that combined the two quite seamlessly, with a delicious sense of atmosphere to boot. Being almost universally praised in underground metal circles, how exactly does the band follow up such a powerhouse release? Easy: by going for something different.

This is one of those albums where I like it on first listen, then listen to it way too much and dislike it again, then months later pick it back up and love it.

I am the same exact way about this album. I loved it, then I didn't like it, and now I love it again, and it feels like it will stay that way.
