Biography
An aggressive Power Metal act, Paralysis emerged in Westdorpe during 1987, soon cutting the 'State Of Shock' demo. The following year the band weathered its first lineup changes as drummer Andre Nijssen was replaced by Sacrament man Stephen van Haestregt.
Subsequently singer Mark de Smit opted out, being substituted by Stephen's brother Jean-Paul. A new demo recording 'Trivial Round Of Life' in 1989 afforded Paralysis some valuable live action supporting the likes of Donor, Whiplash and Sadus amongst others. The band then set about laying down tracks for a third tape but in the midst of these sessions Jean-Paul Haestregt broke ranks. The tracks were completed with the aid of Lex Vogelaar, known on the scene for his contributions to Target (NED), Orphanage and Lycanthrope.
Drafting Englishman Nick Davies Paralysis embarked upon crafting a fresh demo 'Arctic Sleep'. However, the band judged the results so highly this would in fact emerge as the group's first commercial product in 1992. The band self produced their 'Visions' album, later re-recording two songs from the record for the mini album released by the Defrosting label a year later.
Guitarist Fausto Dhanis quit the group after the 1995 release, the band bringing in twin guitarists Eric Bos and a returning Jean-Paul Van De Haestregt.
Signing to the German AFM Records Paralysis recorded the 'Architecture Of The Imagination' album, released in May of 2000. Drummer Stephen Van Haestregt would loan himself out to Within Temptaion in June of 2002.
