As Blood Runs Black - Biography




As Blood Runs Black is a band from Los Angeles, California that embraces a variety of music subgenres such as death metal, black metal, thrash and even metalcore. The band is similar to The Black Dahlia Murder and Protest The Hero with a breakdown-heavy hardcore precision sound. The band formed in 2003 and have released two albums with a third slated for 2014.

The band's lineup has changed almost constantly since 2003. Drummer Hector "Leche" De Santiago is the only remaining founding member. Nick Stewart has been the bass player since 2005. Guitarist Greg Kirkpatrick left Gift Of Prophecy to join the band in 2010. Dan Sugarman, formerly of Fallen Figure, joined As Blood Runs Black in 2010 to aid with the guitar work. Christopher Bartholomew replaced Sonik Garcia as vocalist in 2012.

Their second album, Instinct, reached number one on the Billboard Heatseeker Albums chart and number 111 on the Billboard 200 in April of 2011.

The upcoming third album is entitled Ground Zero and will be funded through Indiegogo.

The band toured extensively throughout 2011 and 2012 in support of the Instinct album. They played gigs with acts such as The Breather, Winds Of Plague, For The Fallen Dreams and The Black Dahlia Murder. They have performed in infamous venues such as the Whisky A Go Go in West Hollywood and The Opera House in Toronto.
