Biography

IRREVERENCE was born in 1995 from an idea of RICKY PAIORO, which, after a few unripe projects, found in DAVIDE FIRINU, beginner drummer at that time, the right person to start this adventure.
Before the first real recording session, the line up changed a lot of times, but in 1997 the band was permanently formed: Ricky at guitar & vocals, Davide at drums, GIULIANO STROZZI at bass guitar and LUCA PETRAZZUOLO at lead guitar.
After a few the first work of the band called DEMO '98 was released, followed the year after by DEMO '99. In 2000 they started the collaboration with STONEHENGE RECORDS, which undertook to produce the first IRREVERENCE's CD. For this CD all the songs of the first two demos were re-arranged and recorded again.
The result was TOTALLY NEGATIVE THOUGHTS. The sound of the first studio-release is a perfect mixture of 80's thrash metal and modern sound, something that was hard to hear during those years. IRREVERENCE faced 2001 with the new record ready, and started a great promotional campaign all over Italy, travelling through the whole country, and collecting over 40 gigs during one year only.

At the beginning of 2002, GIULIANO decided to leave the band, followed in a few by LUCA, cause of a different personal views. RICKY and DAVIDE resisted hard and continued, beginning the search of other components to complete again the line-up.
At the end of that year they met STEFANO BERTOLOTTI who joined the band as lead guitarist. His great technical and arranger skills convince RICKY and DAVIDE to let him join the band and start this new adventure. After a couple of months the line-up was completed by a new bass player, MAURO PASSIATORE. The band were soon in the same wavelenght and the songwriting saw the contribution of all, while before RICKY wrote almost the totality of the material.
In 2002 the guys decided to auto-produce a mini-CD with HARRIS JOHNS (SODOM, KREATOR, SEPULTURA) in SPIDERHOUSESTUDIOS in Berlin. The newborn is called TARGET: HATE which saw the light in February 2003. The new album sounds heavier compared to the previous, a great work on guitar and drums especially guarantees to the final product the sounds the band was looking for. The critical succes of the new relase bring the band to start a new promotional campaign, and live shows with bands as NODE, EXTREMA, PANDEMIA and NECRODEATH are just some examples.

In October 2003 STEFANO left IRREVERENCE cause of a different approach to the project between him and the others. After a moment of indecision on the possibility to remain a three-men band, LUCA COLOMBO, old friend of them, joined allowing them to go on and never interrupt the intense live and promotional activity the band has faced down during 2003/2004, collecting over 70 dates, in Italy and not only, thank also to the great support given by NECROTORTURE AGENCY.
Accompanying international bands as TANKARD and CARNAL FORGE and taking part to some important metal events (TITANS OF THRASH 2004, METAL CAMP 2005), the band consolidate its position in underground scene. In August 2005, IRREVERENCE entered the studio again to record the third studio work WAR WAS WON. They choose to come back to record again at Spiderhouse Studios with HARRIS JOHNS.

The result is a new full lenght in thrash/death style, a perfect mixture between the previouses band works, fast and heavy as TARGET: HATE, melodic and well-arranged as TOTALLY NEGATIVE THOUGHTS. The new release let gain to the band a new record deal, as a matter of fact in November 2005 IRREVERENCE signed a new record deal with ON DEAD SOUND RECORDS. The press has welcomed the new release with excellent critiques and comments, thanks to the high quality of the compositions contained in the last work. All the songs sound really various, the riffing is a little bit changed respect to the past releases. Something more progressive begin to take part in IRREVERENCE sound, but without make a dent on their style that remains direct and aggressive.
In March 2006 starts a brand new tour to support WAR WAS WON in Italy, that touched the country from north to south. In summer season 2006 the band has been busy in some international metal meeting like METAL CAMP 2006, before to leave for some european gigs, with excellent results. In 2007 the combo stops the collaboration with ON DEAD SOUND RECORDS and started looking for a new record deal.
Soon after the french label MALKROSS UNITY released a BEST-OF cd called INTO BATTLE SINCE 1995 that has been spread through the world with promotional intentions, and sold over 1500 copies, and in summer 2007 the band recorded a cover version of the TANKARD's classic song BEERMUDA that is included in the Official Tribute to the german thrashers BEST CASE SCENARIO released by AFM RECORDS.

The 2007 sees the band share the stage with many international and well-known acts like RECKLESS TIDE, CONTRADICTION, ENTOMBED, CATARACT, VOLBEAT and many more. In 2008 the band started composing new material, but never stops to play live. The quality of the live events the bands joined gets high, and they have the opportunity to share the stage with bands like SCHIZO, DARK QUARTERER, RAW POWER and to take part to some of the most important italian metal events like MILANO THRASH FEST.

In 2009 start to work on the successor WAR WAS WON, and to join just few but really important shows to permit themselves to write the new material quicker. They appeared as support act of SODOM and TANKARD, just to cite someone. In fall 2009 the band signed a record deal with NOISEHEAD RECORDS, to release the new studio-work. The new release is foreseen for MARCH 2010, and it will deal, as usually, with a thrash metal influenced by bands such as SODOM, KREATOR and less SLAYER. The main influence is the German school. Heavy, groovy thrash with some really cool riffs and a nice rhythm section. The music is a bit old fashioned as always, but also has a fresh approach in it. Most of the songs will be characterized by the vocals, being aggressive and more brutal
