Dark Funeral - Shows In Latvia And Lithuania Postponed

Swedish Black Metallers Dark Funeral have posted the follwing on their official site: "There's now over a week since all of our gear (guitars, bass, wireless systems, cymbals etc) was confiscated by the police in Peru. And we still have not received any news if or when it will be returned to us. At this point of time one can only speculate, but things doesn't look good though.

There's not easy for us to say this, believe me, but due to the current situation we are unfortunately forced to 'postpone' our up-coming shows in Latvia and Lithuania. We can, as anyone might understand, not afford to buy a whole new backline just like that, and/or in time for these 2 shows, which are scheduled this coming weekend already.

We understand this will leave a lot of you people disappointed, including the local promoters, but we sure hope to have this literally fucked up situation sorted out real soon, and new dates scheduled and announced to you shortly".

Dark Funeral's official statement, regarding the incident in Peru, can be read here .

Dark Funeral - Comment On Peru Incident

Swedish black metallers Dark Funeral performed an all-instrumental set in Lima, Peru Sunday night (October 8) after the group's vocalist/bassist Emperor Magnus Caligula was taken ill. A near-riot followed the concert, with several irate fans destroying property around the concert venue as a way of registering their dissatisfaction over what they felt was a less than adequate performance.

video no 2 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WZ_5yzABnoI

The band posted comment on their official myspace website about this incident:

"Finally back home again after a killer tour in Latin America, except for the somewhat chaotic ending in Peru. I guess it's about time to set the record straight and explain what really happened there.

After a killer show in Santiago (Chile), Caligula started to feel sick. And to tell you the truth, it's a real miracle that no one else in the band got sick during this tour. Travel-wise it was the hardest tour in our career. Late shows and very early flights every fucking day, which left us with not more than 1-2 hours sleep per night. Sure, that kind of schedule works a couple of days, or perhaps a week, but after 2+ weeks ? one is pretty much a wreck. Despite this, we still managed to give 110% at every show, except for the last one in Peru, which of course sucks as much for us as for the fans.

Anyway, shortly after the Santiago show, and during the flight over to Peru, Caligula started to feel really sick. And by the time we arrived at the airport in Peru he had high fever and had completely lost his voice. So the very first thing we did when we met up with the local promoter was to ask for a doctor, which was arranged very quickly. Our hope was of course that Caligula would get some medicine so he could at least get back his voice and be able to pull off that one last show. Unfortunately his condition was much worse than what we expected it to be. The doctor literally said that it was of biggest importance that he did not sing during the next 14 days. If he did, he would take a serious risk to get severe problems with his voice in the future. And if someone really believes that he wanted to take that chance and sing that night, you got to be really fucking stupid.

At this point we told the Peruvian promoter that we would unfortunately be forced to cancel the show but that we were ready to do whatever we could from our side to at least give the fans something. I mean, we were, after all, in the country and everyone but Caligula was feeling OK, except for the fact that we were all very fucking tired. The Peruvian promoter said he would not accept any other solution other than that we played. He said if we didn't play, with or without Caligula, all hell would break loose. Well, as we all now know, it happened anyway. Normally, if one of us get sick on tour and can't perform ? we cancel. But trust me, it will take a lot before we go as far as cancelling a show. After a long discussion between the band, the tour manager and the local promoter, who literally were begging us to play with or without Caligula, we decided that it would indeed be the best for everyone, including the fans, that we played after all, and that would have to be without Caligula, who at this point of time couldn't get a word out of his mouth.

Dark Funeral - Costa Rica Show Cancelled

Lord Ahriman posted the following on the bands official site:

"It just came to our attention that our scheduled show in Costa Rica on October the 3rd is cancelled. Apparently this is a result by the local promotor's refusal to share our flight costs with the other promoters, which is total bollocks if you ask me. We were totally looking forward to play Costa Rica during this forth coming Latin American tour, but unfortunately it won't happen. We understand that this cancellation will leave A LOT of you people very disappointed. And trust me, we all wish there were something we could do to change the situation, but we can't. We do however hope that there will be another chance for us to play Costa Rica in a not too distant future."

Dark Funeral - Polish Gigs Cancelled

Dark Funeral's previously announced headlining shows in Poland have been cancelled due to the current "political situation" in the country, according to a posting on the band's web site.

Commented the Polish promoter Mariusz Kmiolek of Massive Music: "We are sorry to inform that Dark Funeral, Naglfar, Amoral and Asmodeus gigs in Lódz and Katowice have been cancelled. Massive Music would like to apologize for all inconveniences caused to Dragon Productions and the bands. The cancellation is beyond our control, we are entirely helpless in the face of the present political situation in Poland."

Dark Funeral added in a statement: "We understand this has really nothing to do with Dark Funeral alone as a band, but by a musical scene the Polish Catholics obviously wish to forbid. To us this is just another proof of the hypocrisy that lies behind organised religions. They happily promote tolerance, yet, as soon as they see something they dislike, they are fast as a shark to call for censorship. The thing is, reactions like this will most certainly give the opposite result, it always does! We would however like to apologize for all inconveniences this has and will cause our Polish fans, but this is unfortunately beyond our control."

Dark Funeral - soundtrack of a movie

DARK FUNERAL have posted the following update at their official website (www.darkfuneral.se):

"The live album entitled De Profundis Clamavi Ad Te Domine (April 19th via Regain) is receiving great response from the media worldwide. The fierce and aggressive scene presence together with the intense response from the South American fans makes this album without a doubt the grimmest black metal live album ever. So be sure not to miss this one.

The album will be released in the following formats: limited CD version packed in slipcase, 1000 copies double gatefold LP and 1000 copies double picture LP.

Other great news are that Dark Funeral will land one song, 'Thus I Have Spoken' (Diabolis Interium/2001) in the sequel of the up-coming Zombie trilogy, Die Zombiejager.

Die Zombiejager is a low-budget splatter/gore movie made by Jonas Wolcher and his great team at Too86 Entertainment (Sweden). Die Zombiejäger is the sequel of the Zombie trilogy, Zombienoid. A full-length movie in German (with a few lines in Swedish, English & Italian) with English subtitles. The movie is set for a release in September 2004."
