Iron Maiden's new single is expected to be released on the 14th August, although it will not be competing in the charts, due to the fact that the b-side is a recording of 'Hallowed Be Thy Name' recorded during the Radio 1 'Legends' Sessions, and the single is therefore too long to be charted.

Iron Maiden - New Album Artwork, New Single And Tour Info

Iron Maiden have posted the new album artwork on their website. The album should be released in September.

Also announced is the news that The Reincarnation Of Benjamin Breeg will be released as a very special single on August 14th.

Says Steve Harris, "This is a very intense album in many ways and we really wanted to go with a lead track that demonstrated that in the best way, rather than going for a shorter track on the album just to please the chart rules. Benjamin Breeg is a great example of the feel of the album in it's really heavy riff and lyrically it's a very dark, atmospheric and powerful song which really epitomizes what the album is all about for us. So it made a natural choice for us."

In true Maiden style, the single will be released in two special Limited Edition formats, which by content will not be eligible for the UK singles chart. Manager Rod Smallwood explained, "There are various chart rules compliant to number of tracks, the maximum running time, price structure and all the rest of it. As for the new Maiden single - its simple - we're putting out a two track CD - The Reincarnation Of Benjamin Breeg and Hallowed Be Thy Name (Legends Session) and if it's too long to qualify for the charts, then so be it. We have no problem with it being non-chart eligible.

EMI will also release a special 7" picture disc with collectable sticker of the 'Crossed Guns' Logo. B sides to both formats are from last years amazing Radio 1 legends session, recorded especially for the Zane Lowe show.

Limited Edition 2 track CD:
The Reincarnation Of Benjamin Breeg
Hallowed Be Thy Name (Radio 1 'Legends' Session)

Limited Edition 7" picture disc:
The Reincarnation Of Benjamin Breeg
Run To The Hills (Radio 1 'Legends' Session)
The Trooper (Radio 1 'Legends' Session)

The Reincarnation Of Benjamin Breeg is taken from the forthcoming album, A Matter Of Life And Death - full track listing as below:

01. Different World - Smith/Harris - 4.17
02. These Colours Don't Run - Smith/Harris/Dickinson - 6.52
03. Brighter Than a Thousand Suns - Smith/Harris/Dickinson - 8.44
04. The Pilgrim - Gers/Harris - 5.07
05. The Longest Day - Smith/Harris/Dickinson - 7.48
06. Out Of the Shadows - Dickinson/Harris 5.36
07. The Reincarnation of Benjamin Breeg - Murray/Harris - 7.21
08. For The Greater Good of God - Harris - 9.24
09. Lord Of Light - Smith/Harris/Dickinson - 7.23

Iron Maiden - Series Of Unfortunate Events

IRON MAIDEN have posted the following message on their official web site:

"IRON MAIDEN wish to thank all the 45,000 metal fans at Ozzfest in San Bernardino on Saturday night for sticking with us and giving us such a great response at the end of a difficult set. It was obvious to all there that we had a 'series of unfortunate events' throughout! These made it difficult for us to keep our momentum but your incredible support certainly helped us get through it. We guess it all adds up to a pretty memorable gig though!!!

"This is, however, a metal festival. It is supposed to be fun for all. You fans pay very good money to be there and deserve to get a full and unhindered performance from all the bands. This was not the case last night.

"So with this rather bizarre end to a good tour we are returning to the U.K. today for the Leeds and Reading festivals and once again thanks to all of you who came out to see us these last few weeks."

Grapsop 2005: Iron Maiden will be THE headliner

GMM2005 : Persrelease 1 - Friday 17 December 2004

GRASPOP METAL MEETING

Where : Festivalpark, DESSEL

When : Friday 24, Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 June 2005

A decade of Graspop Metal Meeting : confirmed headliner IRON MAIDEN

British heavy metal legends IRON MAIDEN have been confirmed as headliners for the 2005 edition of the Graspop Metal Meeting. Talk about a wonderful Xmas present! It's hard to imagine a more fitting conclusion to the first 10 years of Graspop Metal Meeting.

Twenty-five years in the business and Iron Maiden still prove they are one of the best metal bands of all time. Their incredible success is partly due to hard work, a lot of attention to artwork and merchandising, etc. The key factor, however, is their unwavering loyalty to their fans. Throughout the years they have remained true to themselves and have never compromised.

In 2005 they will return to a more classic repertoire and the stage set-up will also hark back to the past.

Already the upcoming tour is one of sold-out venues and major festivals.

Just to illustrate: the start to the announced tour has been phenomenal. The Gothenburg show sold out in a record 2.5 hours. The 51,000 available tickets literally flew out the door, making Iron Maiden the fastest selling rock band ever.

Long-time manager Rod Smallwood is already anticipating Maiden's biggest ever tour in terms of attendance figures.

Graspop is very proud to have them and they will undoubtedly do us proud when they headline the festival on Sunday 26 June 2005.

The 10th edition of the Graspop Metal Meeting is scheduled for Friday 24, Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 June 2005.

The concept remains the same: a three-day metal fest with a main stage and two giant marquees that offers a platform to a wide cross-section of what's hot in the metal world.

Advance sales as of 1 February 2005.

Very shortly: more names and practical information.

Surf to our website for more information: www.graspop.be

Spread the word and tell your readers/listeners the good news.

Thank you in advance.

Metal greetz,

Graspop Team

Iron Maiden - Added 2nd Concert In Helsinki

Iron Maiden's July 6, 2005 concert at the 12,000-capacity Hartwall Arena in Helsinki, Finland sold out within 30 minutes of tickets going on sale this morning (Nov. 1). As a result of the overwhelming demand, the band have added a second show in Helsinki on July 7, 2005. Tickets for the second concert will go on sale tomorrow morning (Nov. 2) at 9:00 a.m. As previously reported, the band's massive show in Gothenburg's Ullevi Stadium on July 9 sold out in just two and a half hours. All 51,000 tickets were snapped up by Scandinavian fans, excited at the thought of seeing one of the world's greatest rock bands revisit their past.

Incidentally, if people are wondering why MAIDEN are not playing Helsinki's Olympic Stadium (which can accommodate over 50,000 people), the explanation is simple: The stadium will be the site of next summer's world championships in athletics and it will not be used to stage rock concerts.

Iron Maiden release special souvenir EP

In recognition of their highly successful tour and critically acclaimed No 1 international album, IRON MAIDEN thank their fans by releasing a very special CD on 29th March 2004.

'NO MORE LIES' the 7 minute epic from the 'Dance Of Death' album will open the specially formatted and unique Collectors EP CD. Packaged in a silver and red printed box with free Woven Jacquard IRON MAIDEN wristband and 12 page colour booklet the EP celebrates what has been a remarkable year since the band completed recording 'Dance Of Death'. Iron Maiden hit the road in May 2003 and have subsequently played to 1.5 million people in 28 countries across 4 continents along the way. From headlining every major rock festival in Europe to selling out football stadium dates of their own, the band have continued to show they continue to be one of Britain's greatest rock exports.

The EP features special mixes of 'Journeyman' and 'Paschendale' plus a live video of the band's performance of 'No More Lies' from the sold out recent Dance Of Death World Tour. The length of the EP (over 30 minutes of music) and packaging contents will exclude the release from any charts. However, as manager Rod Smallwood explained, 'This release is as a special thank you to all our fans in celebration of an amazing year. The album dominated the international album charts* (debuting at Billboard's International chart at No 1) so we have nothing to prove, except that great music gets recognition from the public, despite the prejudice of mainstay Radio and TV."

To coincide with 'No More Lies, The Dance Of Death Souvenir E.P' EMI Records release the 'Dance Of Death' album on DVDA with 5.1 surround sound specially mixed by producer Kevin Shirley and Steve Harris. For the Audio buffs the DVDA portion contains the album in full crystal clear Hi-definition 24-bit/96 Khz glory while fans who own DVD 5.1 home cinema set ups will be able to enjoy the album in Surround-sound in Dolby Digital or DTS. Listening to the album in this format takes it to a whole new experience level especially with tracks such as 'Paschendale' taking on epic proportions.

Also included on the DVDA as a bonus are two full length videos of the singles 'Wildest Dreams' and 'Rainmaker', both directed by Howard Greenhalgh and which can also be viewed accompanied by full 5.1 audio.

The band have just finished their 'Dance Of Death World Tour', which included nine exceptionally successful British Arena shows to ecstatic fans and critics, finishing with a sold out show at Earl's Court, and playing to over 90,000 fans in the UK alone.

Iron Maiden: low sales?

Despite mostly favorable reviews, IRON MAIDEN's latest CD, "Dance of Death", appears to be selling much more slowly in the U.S. than its predecessor, 2000's "Brave New World". According to the latest Nielsen SoundScan figures, "Brave New World" has shifted 271,050 copies in the U.S. so far, while its follow-up effort has registered a total sales tally of only 119,851.

"Dance Of Death" sold 40,308 copies during its first week of release last September to debut at No. 18 on The Billboard 200 chart. That number was in line with the first-week tally of "Brave New World", which moved 37,618 copies in June 2000 to land at No. 39 on The Billboard 200 chart.

"XEROX Inc. scheduled a convention to go on at Hammerstein Ballroom on 1/27/03. The schedulers, DOUBLE-BOOKED Hammerstein Ballroom. And now, XEROX and IRON MAIDEN's managers are in court, waiting for a judge to decide what should go on. Iron Maiden

The Evening Times is reporting that heavy metal veterans IRON MAIDEN rocked the SECC in Glasgow so hard Monday night (Dec. 8) they blew the sound system in an awe-inspiring set that delivered a full-on dose of rock theatrics.

The audience in the packed auditorium was so eager to get close to their heroes that there was a small crowd-crush at the front of the stage, causing frontman Bruce Dickinson to stop the set only two songs in, urging the crowd to take two steps back so that the people who had fallen could get up again.

"We want to be taking people out of here tonight happy ? we don't want to be taking them out in body-bags," he cautioned.

After a short breather, the band launched back with "Can I Play With Madness", Dickinson star-jumping and leaping around the set, with a boundless energy that would leave young pretenders THE DARKNESS breathless.

The gig almost came to a premature end when, after a thunderous intro with bombshells exploding and a storm of light and smoke, the band launched into extra-heavy riffs and the sound immediately cut dead.
