Napalm Death - Guitarist Comments About Jesse Pintado's Death

Mitch Harris, guitarist from Napalm Death, has made a comment about the passing away of ex-Napalm Death/Terrorizer guitarist Jesse Pintado:

"I am very sad and upset about this news. Jesse was like a brother to me and we were very close for many years. For now, I feel the most sadness and compassion for his family, that loved him dearly, and tried with all their heart to help Jesse redirect his future.

I suppose I feel more anger and frustration than anything, as Jesse was gifted with people who loved and cared about him. Jesse was equally blessed with many companions around the world, and I am sure that many people share the same emptiness at this moment.

Now all that I can do is to try and remember the great times we shared together, and hope that Jesse has somehow found peace in his own mind and soul".

Ex-Napalm Death drummer Mick Harris has also commented: "Jesse, I'll always remember you. First choice for Napalm Death".

Napalm Death - Frontman Talking About Jesse's Passing

Napalm Death Frontman Barney has issued the following statement regarding the passing of Terrorizer/ex-Napalm Death guitarist Jesse Pintado:

"I am sitting here still really trying to take in what has happened with Jesse. We were in Bulgaria playing at the time when it seems to have happened, and communications were a little off our radar.

I don't really want to dissect things too much because I'm conscious of how Jesse's family must be feeling right now - simply to say that I'm sad and also disappointed that Jesse wasn't able to fully lift himself again and re-discover his hunger with Terrorizer. RIP amigo."

Jesse Pintado - Death Of Terrorizer's (Ex Napalm Death) Guitarist

Guitarist Jesse Pintado (TERRORIZER, ex-NAPALM DEATH) died over the weekend in a hospital in Holland, Century Media Records has confirmed. A pioneer in our musical genre, Jesse and his influential sound will be sorely missed. BLABBERMOUTH.NET would like to offer our most sincere condolences to his family and friends. Century Media Records will make a further announcement later in the week.

In a recent interview with Rockdetector.com, Pintado spoke about his final days in NAPALM DEATH.

"The departure was basically due to a variety of reasons," he said. "We shared a house together, we toured together, we were always together, but people move on. Along the way there was a little rough bumps, though I don't know. In my situation it got to the point where I needed a little fresh start. I'm still good friends with the guys; there's no animosity there, we're all cool, and they're happy with what I'm doing."

Asked if the media twisted the situation in some ways since it was reported that the band stated he had personal problems and alcohol issues," Pintado replied, "Yeah, of course. The other day I was browsing the Internet, and they stated I was dead! I thought 'Oh shit, I'm dead!' I really don't pay much attention to that."

Pintado's final release was the long-awaited TERRORIZER reunion CD, entitled "Darker Days Ahead", which came out last week via Century Media Records.

Napalm Death - New Album Details Announced

Death/Grindcore band Napalm Death have been working away in the studio producing a new album set for release at the end of this year. The new album will be entitled 'Smear Campaign'. So far a fair bit of stuff has been written, and three track names have been decided on. These tracks are: 'Persona Nongrata', 'Smear Campaign' and 'Call That an Option?'. Vocallist Barney Greenway made the following comment regarding the new album:

"This thing is already sounding totally immense - even better than 'The Code Is Red...', from where I'm standing. It's fast and furious, as you'd expect, but we're also throwing a few curveballs in, in true Napalm Death tradition, can't wait for everyone to hear it."

Napalm Death - Recording New Album

Napalm Death have begun recording their followup to 2005's "Long Live The Code". The tentatively titled "Smear Campaign" is set to be released through Century Media Records at the end of 2006. More details to be released soon.

Napalm Death vocalist Barney Greenway commented, "After working our arses off on new stuff for the last couple of months, we kind of slipped into the studio when noone was looking. This thing is already sounding totally immense - even better than Code..., from where I'm standing. It's fast and furious, as you'd expect, but we're also throwing a few curveballs in, in true ND tradition. Can't wait for everyone to hear it. Take it easy peeps."

Napalm Death - Jesse Pintado Officially Out

NAPALM DEATH guitarist Mitch Harris spoke to Australia's Themetalforge.com recently about the status of guitarist Jesse Pintado.

"He's out of the band," Harris said pointedly. "He didn't actually leave the band. We sent him home. He had some personal issues. We knew that being in the band wasn't the right environment for his current state of mind. So we sent him home to get some help and support from his family and stuff. We waited for two years for him to get his act together. For example, he didn't even play on Order Of The Leech (from 2002) or the covers album (2004's Leaders Not Followers 2). He just kinda disappeared on us and he became unreliable. There were a lot of issues which were holding us back and confusing the issue and we really just wanted to play ball and just get up there and do what we do, and it was really, really affecting the band in a negative way and it was affecting him in a negative way as well as us personally. We thought it would be best. We gave him 200 million chances and he came back after two years, and his condition hadn't improved and we decided to let him go because he just became unreliable. We have a really hard year ahead of us with lots and lots of touring. We thought it would be best for the band, for the album and also for the fans to just let him go which is a shame because we've been through so much. We've achieved so much together and he's been our room mate for years and just living together we've managed to remain good friends. He wishes us all the best as well as we wish him all the best. I can't put it in any more detail than that because it's his own personal kind of deal. It's his own business really. It's a shame,"

Their new album, The Code Is Red?Long Live The Code is the first album of original material that the band have written and recorded as a quartet since the late 1980s. It appears the idea of becoming a quartet was something they were forced to settle into some time ago.

"I do think the album didn't suffer in any way, shape or form," says Harris. "In the end, it was better for the future of the band I think. We've kinda come together as a four piece in a way that there's no turning back now. It's like, we've done what we've done and we're going to live with our decision. There's no point now. I mean, there was talk about getting another guitarist and of course lots of people suggest that. But it's not going to fill Jesse's shoes. It's not going to make up for the fact that he's not there. But at the end of the day, what we're doing now and the way it's written and the way it comes across, it is as solid and as intense as it needs to be. We're just gonna to continue as a four piece. There's just no point in going backwards at this stage. There's too much to be done. We're all much older now and we have lives to lead. The less confusion, the better. We're all totally on the same level so let's just keep it there."

Napalm Death - The new album title is...

Napalm Death's Barney Greenway (vocals) has sent the following message to the band's fans:

"We are currently in Foel Studios in Mid Wales (the middle of nowhere), which is actually owned by Dave Anderson who was the original bass player for Hawkwind (before Lemmy even), which rocks, of course. Everything is working out really well, and we have tried a few different methods of working here, which have really helped my voice. I am using the microphone as I would live, which helps to really get the full roar going. Guitars are sounding heavy as anything, and as we have given ourselves just about the right time in the studio- as per usual - it helps to keep us on our toes so everything sounds pretty vital. Shane is doing his usual tractor impressions with the bass, which is nice. We're currently at a race to the finish, so everything is starting to shape up properly with the only distraction being the mist that hangs over the valley most mornings...and the sheep! A few titles for you as we chalk 'em off..."Instruments Of Persuasion", "Morale", "Striding Purposefully Backwards", "Climate Controllers", "Sold Short", plus of course the title track "The Code Is Red...Long Live The Code". More later. Cheers."

Napalm Death will be releasing their Century Media Records debut, Leaders Not Followers: Part 2, on October 5th. Fans can expect to see the band late October through November with Cannibal Corpse, Kataklysm, and Goatwhore.

Napalm Death recording new album

Napalm Death recording new album

British grindcore pioneers Napalm Death are currently preparing to record their forthcoming studio album. Commenting on why the band chose to record in Wales, vocalist Barney Greenway had this to say: "The studio is called Foel Studios in the town of Foel, North Wales (Porcupine Tree, Ozric Tentacles), and is owned by the original bass player in Hawkwind. We decided to record here because it's pretty isolated out in the countryside, so there are minimal distractions. We feel that good use of studio time is pivotal and where as some bands might sit around taking things easy for periods, we really work intensively. In the studio, it's actually better to be slightly stressed and on edge for us because it's a good way to capture that kind of on the edge live vibe, which in turn gives us the extra thrust. Personally, I'm never happy with a verse of vocals if I think that I can squeeze a last drop of rawness out of my voice. Sometimes I probably attack things too much, but intensity is the key for me. I like to think we've done enough trips to the studio now to know what we're doing, yet you can never be entirely prepared for the unexpected where, say, the desk might burst into flames or something. Russ Russell will be producing, as he's a very trustworthy man at the knobs for us now as well as being a mate. We're confident he'll do a great job on the new stuff, which is sounding spectacularly savage ? a good mix of the very best bits from the last two albums."
