Moonspell - Belarussian Shows Canceled

Moonspell have issued the following statement regarding the cancelled Minsk show:

"We are extremely disappointed by the fact we had to cancel the shows. The reasons on both Neopolis and Cradle Of Filth site is accurate but Moonspell might add that the bands' buses entered Belarus territory and were meeting for possible solutions for the day. On the event that the truck with ALL of our tour equipment was held due to a bureaucratic detail in the border made all our efforts worthless.

We have planned carefully this trip with the promoter, with the embassies and were caught off guard by an excessive zeal from the border staff.

Goes without saying that all the bands were eagerly anticipating the show as it was a premiere for everyone. We can assure you we are doing our best to reschedule the show and we are pretty sure we will do so up to the end of the year, the sooner, the better, though no specific date can be advanced so far.

Thanks for your comprehension, we understand and share the frustration but look forward to make it up for you on a near future."

Enslaved - Win Spellemann Metal Award

For the third time in five years, Enslaved have won the Spellemann Award (the Norwegian equivalent to the American Grammy) for Best Metal Album 2008 with their latest offering, "Vertebrae". The other nominated bands were Keep Of Kalessin ("Kolossus") and Benea Reach ("Alleviat").

Enslaved commented: "We're very honored to get our third Grammy! The party was good, we had a good time. We think the Grammy committee was very generous in giving all the artists two whole pitchers of ice water and selling 0.3 liters of flat beer for 7.5 Euros in the bar. Luckily, we robbed a bank on our way there and could afford getting absolutely smashed. We're having a rough Monday here. Thanks!"

Enslaved won a Spellemann Awards for Best Metal Album in 2006 for "Ruun" and in 2004 for "Isa". Last year the Award went to Mayhem and "Ordo Ad Chao".

Deathspell Omega - Split Announced With S.V.E.S.T.

Deathspell Omega and S.V.E.S.T. offer two glances right into the primeval fracture, the suppurating wound at the heart of everything, the fissure undermining up to the least attempt at harmony. "Summa Divisio", the first of all divisions, the mother of all scissions and the annunciation of woe and affliction to come. The work of both bands can be understood as a variation on a same theme, independent yet complementary.

The split, entitled "Chaining The Katechon / Le Diable Est Ma Raison" cover art], will be released on the 8th of December, through End All Life Productions, as a noble gatefold LP featuring both bands and as two digipak mini-cds, each featuring one band, with identical artwork and layout

Moonspell - New Album Update

"Night Eternal" will be the title of the new Moonspell album. The recording sessions will take place between the 7th and the 31st of January 2008 in Denmark's finest Metal studio, Antfarm. Tue Madsen, who worked with the band on the "Under Satanae project, will be producing Moonspell's new opus. The band has revealed some of their song titles already: 'Shadow Sun', 'Night Eternal' (title track), 'At Tragic Heights', 'Scorpion Flower', 'Spring Of Rage', 'Hers Is The Twilight' among others songs that will take part of this new work. Further into the concept it was disclosed that it refers to the "wear and the tear of the Earth", how we are consuming its energy and its vital force and how it will take its revenge upon us. Memorial's musical line was taken a step further and Night Eternal will be a quite intense album itself, darkly atmospheric yet really heavy and catchy. In Night eternal expect nothing but great guitar riffs, breathtaking songs and epic atmospheres. The exact release date will be announced soon yet the album is coming out in May.

The band adds:
"We are totally enthusiastic and eager to release it and to present it to the fans and hopes to be able to post some songs online on moonspell.com and MySpace.com/moonspell as soon as the promos are ready for the press, around one and a half month before the record is released. A studio diary will be posted regularly just like it was for Memorial on both site and MySpace."

Moonspell - Working On New Album

Moonspell are working on the yet untitled follow up to the largely acclaimed "Memorial", and they are pre-producing it in Portugal with Waldemar Sorychta (Wolfheart, Irreligious, Sin, Memorial) this November from the 16th to the 30th.
Studio is booked now for January 2008 at Antfarm in Denmark with Tue Madsen who worked with the band on the re-recordings of the EP and the demos. "Under Satanae" collected ravishing response and review everywhere and it even charted in their home country (number #12) where they played an one off show in Lisbon Coliseum whose setlist was comprised of all titles of this release to 3500 surrendered fans.

On related news, Fernando Ribeiro, Moonspell singer has just finished translating "I Am Legend" by Richard Matheson to Portuguese, it's the first time it's printed in his native language. He commented on it: "Hard work but a pleasant time inside Robert's Neville boarded house and mind" The major motion picture with Will Smith is coming out on 12/14/07, two weeks later in Portugal and the book is coming out on the 5th of the same month. Check the trailer at YouTube.com.

All the shows this year have been postponed in order to allow the band some time to work on their new opus. Some words from the band: "It's still hard to say which direction it will proceed but so far there are great, great songs, full of mystical power and crushing atmospheres. A few classical Metal elements have been added to the songs, Black Metal and Gothic are also influences that are very important and we just want to take "Memorial" a step up but without loosing the enthusiasm of discovering and applying new elements to our music. The lyrical content is very fierce, spiritual and mostly pagan in the way it will be an really connected with the Earth and with the fact she is indeed a woman..."
