The Faceless - Are Officially Singer-less

As was rumored on the webernet for eons, The Faceless frontman Derek Rydquist has left the US technical death metal band.

Derek Rydquist officially confirmed his departure on Lambgoat earlier today: "As you Internet sleuths have deduced, I have left The Faceless. I left the band a couple months ago, and we were waiting until they had everything sorted out on their end before saying anything about it, but I guess I'll take it upon myself to break the news. I am no longer emotionally or artistically fulfilled by being the vocalist for the group, and that's how I arrived at my decision. Touring's luster has worn off, and I have found myself reconsidering the role I would like to take in creating and presenting music. Also, being a 'professional musician' was kind of ruining my love for music because when you rely on this stuff to make you money, as with anything, it is easy to become bitter towards it. Not that it was all bad, I had the best times I will ever have being in this band, but it is time for me to move on.

I'd like to thank the band and the friends I've made through the band for making this not only a life altering experience, but a life shaping one. There is an immense amount of talent in this band, and the new vocalist they have is doing a great job, so please keep supporting The Faceless. I can now join you in anticipating the new album.

If you're interested, I'm now playing in another group with some dudes from some awesome bands. Check it out at this location. We're mixing the album right now, so we should have some music up soon."

Just in case you're wondering, Geoff Ficco (Kamikabe, Orgone) has apparently been singing for The Faceless since Rydquist's departure.

Elis - Singer Sandra Schleret Leaves The Band

Official press release

"More than 4 years ago I joined Elis as their new singer. Our journey was very special to me, and I think that we found one another at a time when we really needed it the most. I gave my best to honor Sabine's legacy and nevertheless stay true to myself and open a new chapter together with the band. I am sorry to say that we have reached a point where this chapter now comes to an end. We had an amazing and exciting time and the guys really touched my heart. We made a great album in which I've put all of my heart and which means a lot to me. We sat together and talked long about everything, and we concluded that it is better to go separate ways from now on. I simply feel the need to devote myself to my own music, my aims and tasks, and the guys can not accompany me on that way because they have their own aims, ideas and expectations. I am sure that it's the right decision, because it is very important to me to dedicate myself to everything I do with full heart and soul. Now that I can not ensure this anymore I think it's only fair to say it freely. Elis will always have my full support and my friendship will guide them on their way. The guys have found a great new singer and so I am leaving with a good feeling, though I am very sad about the end of our time together.

I dearly want to thank all the Elis fans, who gave me such a warm welcome! I hope we will see each other again!

With all my best wishes,
Sandra"

Behemoth - Nergal Back On Stage First Time After Transplant!

We are proud to announce that yesterday Nergal hit the stage for the first time after transplant! Nergal performed the "Penetration" song together with Carl McCoy and Fields Of The Nephilim, who played a show in Katowice, Poland on May 6th, Mega Club.

This is what we got from Nergal:

"I just came off stage...Katowice, Poland. It was my first performance after the transplant. I don't remember when the last time I was THAT nervous. First of all, I had to join one of my favorite bands ever, true legends, Fields Of The Nephilim... secondly, I'm still not 100% in shape so I didn't know how my body would react. I would risk saying I'm maybe 60% of what I used to be?but still progressing! Anyway, We did a song "Penetration" together with Carl McCoy and Co. What a blast I have to tell you. I had a serious adrenaline rush and it was such a boost of energy I can't even describe. My mouth dried out after 30 seconds so I could hardly breathe but the energy wouldn't let me stop. I was carried away. The moment I saw the crowd, I felt this double bass pounding underneath my feet... I was in trance. I'm counting days 'til we come back with Behemoth full time. 5 months to go...huh."
