Eluveitie - New Song Online

Swiss folk metallers Eluveitie just posted another new song off their highly anticipated new album Everything Remains (As It Never Was). Check out "Kingdom Come Undone" at the band's MySpace.

Commented bandleader Chrigel Glanzmann: "Here comes the second song off our upcoming album we'd like to present you: "Kingdom come undone". One of our harsher tracks, where juggernautish riffs meet with onrushing folkmelodies. And exactly the same furious character also lies in the lyrics. The song deals with Vercingetorix, a gaulish freedom fighter who lived in the time of the gaulish war. His endeavour was to unite the gaulish clans. The song presents you a passionate speech, like he probably could have held it in front of assembled gaulish chieftains. In that sense: This is V... for Vercingetorix! "

Eluveitie - New Album Title, Cover Art And Tracklist Revealed

Original news posted on 16.10.2009

Swiss pagan horde Eluveitie just finished the recordings for the new album which is scheduled for release in spring 2010. The band also revealed the artwork and album title of their third effort: Everything Remains As It Never Was.

Currently mainman Chrigel Glanzmann attends the mixing sessions with legendary Colin Richardson and Martyn "Ginge" Ford in Wales. "Somehow it seems almost unreal to me: The recordings for our upcoming album are finished! Right now I'm in the Welsh Nott-In Pill studios with Colin Richardson (Slipknot, Machine Head, Kreator, Behemoth, Bullet For My Valentine and many more) and Martyn "Ginge" Ford working on the mix of the album. And believe me, the mix will be mind-blowing! Well, what can I say... Colin is just a pure genius!

We can look back at two extremely intense months of working our asses off recording the album. It has been an intense, exhausting, but also satisfying time with all of us giving 150% in. Many things developed very spontaneously and songs became very authentic, pure and genuine.

Speaking of the recording I have to mention the amazing job of Tommy Vetterli for sure, who really worked his balls off for the album! Once again he assured his position among the world's best engineers. That's what Colin Richardson stated about his work: "one of the best drum and guitar trackings I've ever heard"!

Furthermore we can already give you a first glimpse of the artwork, which has again been done by famous artist Travis Smith, who already did the cover fro "Spirit".

And also we'd like to reveal the album title: Everything Remains As It Never Was

Lyrically the album consists of diverse stories and narrations from ancient Gallia: Historical occurrences and fates of individuals as well as myths and legends bequeathed throughout the centuries. Yet the lyrics pretty much focus the "human" aspects of those historical happenings and also behold them with some questioning and probably also with a slightly bitter-sweet smile, being well aware of the fact that today we simply cannot tell, how things exactly have been back then.

But enough babbled for now - back to some mixing work!"

Eluveitie - Recording New Material

Swiss metallers Eluveitie have issued the following update on their MySpace blog:

"Hails everybody!

Some of you might have heard some rumours about it already... and it's true, we're heavily working on our new album!
Since since 2,5 weeks already we're in the studio, recording our next sword blow. Drums and most of the guitars are already nailed!

And as yet we are really, really satisfied. I mean really! We've decided to record our upcoming album in the famous Swiss Newsound studios, owned and run by none lesser than Coroner mastermind Tommy Vetterli (also ex-Kreator and former live guitarist of Vodoo Cult)!

And so far it is hell of a pleasure to work with him, engeneering and recording the album! It's great to profit of his enormeous experience (both, as producer/engeneer, as well as musician) on one hand, but also to work and have a good time with him as a very likeable and down-to-earth guy on the other hand.

And judging after how the so far recorded tracks sound, this album will definitely cleave your heads open!

The album will be mixed by the british soundforge god Colin Richardson (Behemoth, Machine Head, Kreator, Sepultura, Carcass, Slipknot, As I Lay Dying, Trivium and many more).

And this brings me to the next thing to mention: Yes, after an acoustic release we're thoroughly up for a massive metal album again! So "Evocation I" kinda became the well known "calm before the storm".

Some of the songs on this album I began to write quite a long time ago, some others developped in a very short time during the last couple of months. All in all I think that this album becomes our most dark and severe release so far - brimmed with mystical, convoluted and partly insanely fast celtic folk melody lines, but at the same time with pure, juggernautish metal. The album's probably more "metal" than any other release we did so far.

So stay tuned!

I wish all of you some great and pleasant autum weeks! We'll be back with more news in a while... but for now I have to go "back to work" and prepare some angry and nasty vocal recordings.

Cheers from the studio.

Chrigel."

Eluveitie - Headlining Heathenfest North America

Heathen sects from across Europe will be converging on North America for the first annual Heathenfest tour! Switzerland's Eluveitie, the worlds heaviest Celtic tinged folk-metal band in existence, will be headlining the event with direct support coming from label mates Belphegor, Austria's most feared S&M loving blasphemers. Support will come from Scotland's own Pirate metal sensations Alestorm, Finland's female fronted folk-metal troupe Kivimetsän Druidi, and Norwegian black n' rollers Vreid.

Eluveitie mastermind Chrigel Glanzmann commented: "After our last planned US tour appearance was cancelled we were just as disappointed as our fans were. We promised to immediately start looking for a worthy replacement tour and so here it is! To us, it already seems far too long since we toured the US and Canada. We definitely haven't forgotten the warm welcome we received there! So we're more than happy and enthused to 'set sail' westwards once again!

All the more we have some excellent bands joining us, which we've had the pleasure to share the stage with before in Europe! And not at least we're eager as hell to cudgel the American metalheads with some brand new songs! I'm sure this tour will kick ass, devastate and definitely be a flagrantly HEATHEN feast!

We will of course play songs from our latest acoustic release "Evocation I - The Arcane Dominion" but we'll also play some songs from our upcoming album which is fully metal again. This tour will be the first time ever that we'll play those brand new songs live! Next week we'll enter the studio to start recording the new album, which should come out in early 2010."

Belphegor comments: "Ave! Yes it's the first time, after five amazing North American, tours that Belphegor gets to come to the States and play a full set and not have three drumsets on stage (laughs). So be prepared and expect more machine gun hellfire and aggressive stage action! We look forward to seeing all you death - legions again as we promote the release of our new album "Walpurgis Rites - Hexenwahn". Hail Chaos - Hail Sathan!"

Alestorm exclaims: "Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!"

Kivimetsän Druidi adds: "We are really looking forward playing killer gigs on Heathenfest tour - our very first time in North America - with these awesome bands. We know there will be lots of our fans, but also people to whom we are still practically unknown. The response at our two European tours has been great and we have really enjoyed playing there. Last year we had just released our debut album Shadowheart when we toured with our friends Korpiklaani, Battlelore, and Falchion on Finnish Fire Tour through European metropolis and the audience made us feel very welcome. Now, we are prepared to give our fans some serious party time, extreme folk metal songs and joyful shows. So come to see us alive on Heathenfest tour and join the party!"

Eluveitie - Pull Out Of Paganfest America Tour

Swiss folk metal band Eluveitie has been forced to pull out of the Paganfest America tour, scheduled to kick off on 28th April in Toronto, Canada featuring Korpiklaani, Primordial, Moonsorrow, Blackguard (formerly known as Profugus Mortis) and Swashbuckle. Eluveitie emphasize that this was "in no way the decision of the band and that were looking forward to do this tour a lot."

Commented the tour organizers Rock The Nation:

"Hello to all Pagan folks out there!

We're almost here for the second edition of PaganFest America and are very excited for this years tour. With the anticipation continuing to mount, this will be THE tour to attend this year, we promise!
On a related note, there have been some changes to the tour line up. Unfortunately, Swiss folk band Eluveitie will no longer be able to make it on this edition and we've decided that it would be wiser to wait for the band to return in the fall since they've already played during PaganFest America 2008's touring cycle. On the bright side, Eluveitie will return on a new tour we are currently working on (yes... we're working on something very cool for this Fall) where Eluveitie will play an acoustic and a full metal set and it will be worth the wait. Stay tuned for more info to come!

With this being said, we have increased the playing times of all the bands on PaganFest America and whether you come for your favorite or for all of the bands, you will get the set time you and the bands deserve!"

Nuclear Blast have posted following news on their website:

"Swiss pagan metal horde Eluveitie just revealed the release date of their long announced folk / acoustic album "Evocation I: The Arcane Dominion". The album will contain 15 folk songs, mostly written in ancient gaulish language will be unleashed on April 10th 2009 via Nuclear Blast."

Updated (on 20.01.2009, thanks to S.K.Ø.M)

Swiss metallers Eluveitie just revealed the cover artwork of their upcoming new album, entitle "Evocation I: The Arcane Dominion".

Mainman Chrigel Glanzmann states: "As "Evocation I: The Arcane Dominion" is a concept album setting pure gaulish mythology into music, we also wanted to be the artwork in the same line. Kernunnos is one of the most important and central characters in celtic mythology. So we conceived a topical portrayal of that figure, representing as the ancient mythological content of "Evocation I: The Arcane Dominion" as well as it's musical character."

UPDATE (thanks to WinterChild)

Eluveitie just revealed the tracklist as well as the guest features included on their upcoming acoustic/folk album "Evocation I: The Arcane Dominion". Mainman Chrigel Glanzmann states: "The tracks on "Evocation I: The Arcane Dominion" take you on a journey through ancient gaulish mythology, a journey deep into the celtic soul. You'll pass diverse instrumental tracks, setting mythological topics into music, as well as songs, which are exclusively sung in ancient gaulish language. Most lyrics are 1600 - 2100 years old. We're proud and happy we have some illustrious and excellent guests musicians on this album: Fredy Schnyder from Nucleus Torn playing the hammered dulcimer on two tracks, Oli S. Tyr from the german medieval folkers Faun contributing the magical sounds of the long-necked lute on the title track. Furthermore Alan Nemtheanga from the Irish pagan metallers Primordial presenting his vocal art in two tracks, Mina The Fiddler from the experimental folk band Branâ Keternâ enchanting two tracks with the sounds of the 5-stringed viola and at last Sarah Wauquiez, our former bandmember, playing Zugerörgeli (helvetic accordion) on one track."

Eluveitie - Announce New Members

Swiss metallers Eluveitie have issued the following update:

"During the last couple of weeks we received many applications for the two vacant positions in our band. We'd like to use this opportunity to thank all musicians who contacted us for their messages, efforts and interest in our band. We read all applications assiduously and thought a lot about the whole thing.

Now we are very pleased to announce that we have decided for two new band members! And we are as confident to have found two awesome musicians and as we're proud and happy to introduce them to you:

Päde Kistler:
Playing diverse kinds of bagpipes, as well as whistles and acoustic guitars, Päde is a multi-instrumentalist and especially an experienced piper! To some of you (especially the folk interested guys) Päde might not be unfamiliar: He used to proof his abilities as musician and also as disarming performer in the Swiss folk band Branâ Keternâ, where also Meri and Chrigel used to play. So we esteem Päde since a couple of years, both as great musician as well as a fantastic guy and friend.

Kay Brem:
Being a long-time rock'n'roll bastard of the Swiss metal scene, Kay makes a very skilled bass player that will for sure kick your asses as hell. Kay formerly played with the Swiss metal machines Cataract and Tribes Of Caïn and honoured or rather ravaged countless stages all over Europe. As Päde, we also got to know and esteem Kay as a great musician and person quite a while ago.

You can find a picture of the two new members here.
(Fotocredits: Päde - Samantha Benedetti / Kay - metalpics.ch, Caroline Traitler & Daniela Vorndran/black-cat-net.de).

We are really happy, content and proud to have Päde and Kay on board - both of them being great musicians, as well as just fucking cool people that perfectly fit into our band.

So? we raise our horns and ardently welcome them in the Eluveitie camp!

Cheers
Your Eluveitie crew"

Eluveitie - Two Members Quit The Band

Posted on Eluveitie's official website:

"After a long time playing together with us, Sevan (flute, whistles, bagpipes) and Rafi (bass) decided to leave Eluveitie. Both of them came to this desicion due to personal reasons. Both, Sevan and Rafi, were longtime members. Sevan was with Eluveitie from the very beginning on. So their step was kind of a shock for us. Yet we also understand and accept their desicion. We won't forget the years we spent together and we wish Sevan and Rafi all the very best on their future musical as well as personal ways! "Thank you both for your dedication and for the time we spent together the last four years! Take care & horns raised!!!

Sevan and Rafi will still play with us the next couple of shows! But of course we're now looking for worthy replacements - a bass player and a multi-instrumentalist well playing bagpipes (Gaita and similar), tin and low whistles and eventually Irish flute. If you're interested in playing in Eluveitie, then click here!"
