Virus IV - Lineup Changes

Hi Infected Metalheads,

I decided to have one more guitarist for the future plans of VIRUS IV, 'cause the musical direction of the next album needs it !

So, I asked Renaut to take his main instrument back, 'cause he is a very good 7 strings player, we know each other very well, did lots of gigs together with guitars... and the choice is two guitars for more headbangs !!

Therefore the band welcomes a new member, bass player Christophe Babin (Eradicate, Headline). A great and talented musician who will share stages with VIRUS IV during next gigs.

So be prepared to shout loud in front of the stages !!!

More pics soon...

Darzamat - Upcoming Album Title Revealed

Tuesday, August 12, 2008

Darzamat reveals the details concerning the new album, which will be entitled "Solfernus' Path". The band has just started writting the songs for the album.

"For the first time in our band's history we've decided to create a concept album. It is a certain sort of novelty for us, yet we've had such an idea in our minds for a long time now. The coherent story which is to be told by both the lyrics and the music, is a hell of a greater challenge than composing ten pieces in the similar stylistics. As the action proceeds, the music must "react" accordingly and suitably. It is as if a screenplay, which is to attract the viewer in an interesting way," tells Flauros, the vocalist of Darzamat.

"The story contained on the record takes place in a mysthical set, indeed, which is created by the mansion of countess Josephine von Kuchmeister, the inspiration for which was the Villa Caro in Gliwice and the palace in Pławniowice. The action of "Solfernus' Path" takes place at the beginning of XXth century. - The main character is a medicine student who undergoes a spiritual transformation. He goes beyond the carnal world and he notices the "other side". Everything is dressed in fairy-like climate, full of the occult "keys". Nothing is obvious, nothing here is predictable," says the vocalist.

"The title Solfernus is of course not the main character of the story, but it's eminence grise. The character of Solfernus derives from the play " Dalliance with Devil" written by the Czech dramatist Jan Drda. It is only a tiny inspiration, an impulse where one should not seek any similarities. Drda's play is grotesque and humorous, while our story is of a completely different character, much closer to Stefan Grabiński's horror short stories than to the ones of the Czech playwright," emphazises Flauros.

"The band announces an extraordinary product. The best record in band's history? I do not like this platitude, but I can say that it will undoubtedly be the best done album in our whole discography. Here we took care of each and every detail as never before. I'm talking here about the musical, arrangement as well as visual aspects. I'm convinced that after familiarizing oneselves with the contents of "Solfernus' Path," the fans'll state it was worth waiting that long for the album."

Darzamat - Update From The Band

Darzamat has begun the work on the new album, the successor of the released in 2005 "Transkarpatia."

However, there's been no news coming from the band's camp lately! This situation is explained by Darzamat's vocalist - Flauros:

"There've been no signs of life from us during couple of last months, yet the silence was only apparent. There were a few factors contributing to this very silence, yet I can assure that we weren't on holiday during this time. The whole group was engaged in a very hard work on the few projects. Obviously, the most important of them is the new Darzamat's album but the rest is not less interesting. First of all, our keyboard player - Spectre's been very strongly wrapped up in the new fantastic undertaking. He was asked to prepare a film soundtrack for the needs of the Discovery channel! It's a dusky and dismal picture as it presents the serial killers ravaging in Poland. Nera was also engaged in the whole undertaking and she sang there a couple of truly insane musical backgrounds. As far as I know, the film will appear already this year. Therefore, You'll soon be able to get to know for yourself how Darzamat's members ideally composed in this climate," emphasizes Flauros.

Darzamat's musicians have also been preparing some new music projects : Khode Six and Neurotic Sindrome.

"Together with the guitar player, Chris, we write the music for the debut album Khode Six (www. myspace. com/khodesix), while Nera and Spectre have practically finished the Neurotic Sindrome album (www. myspace. com/neuroticsindrome). These are some sort of springboards from the daily activities in our mother band. Both of the bands are, however, totally different from each other and there'll still come a time for a more detailed presentation of them at the end of this year," adds .

The band has already started the composing of the pieces, which will appear on the new Darzamat's album. Although the new album will be musically diversified, it is to be the most coherent record in the band's history.....

"Apart from the characteristic symphonic fragments, the elements of film music will also be present. The record will be heavy, climatic and go-ahead, obviously in its convention. I'd also say that in some moments the material is even epical. This way or another one can expect the surprises although it will still be Darzamat. What may be a curiosity is that it's going to be the first concept album in the band's history, explains Flauros, adding that one can expect some more details concerning the new album pretty soon.

Aesma Daeva - Guitarist Earl Root Has Passed Away

R.I.P. Earl Root 1962 - 2008

Earl Root was born in 1962 and for the rest of his life embraced music with passion and enthusiasm. He was raised in Edina MN. Growing up in a working class family he developed a strong work ethic and thrived on a full schedule that was as he said "bordering on chaos."

Earl formed the band Disturbed in the mid 80's, they played and toured constantly with acts such as Sepultura, and Death. A key contributor to the mid west Metal Scene Earl helped form the first Milwaukee Metal Fest, and for 27 years he ran The Root of all Evil Radio show at KFAI. Where he helped promote, interview and break many new underground acts.

Earl came home in the sense of the word when he met his wife Nancy. Nancy became an important support for him throughout his life. Together Earl and Nancy held memorable 4th of July parties, and Halloween was an event that was not taken lightly at the Root household.

Well on tour he could often be found in pawn shops finding collectable vinyl or as he described it to the younger generation "Really big cd's that sound better than cd". In 1990 his passion for collecting brought him to open Root Cellar Records A premier Vinyl record store. To date much of his collection remains and can be bought through his family's E-Bay Store.

In 2001 Earl joined Aesma Daeva as a primary rhythm guitarist. He continued to play guitar with the band throughout his chemo therapy, radiation and stem cell treatments. In 2007 with bladder cancer, and a kidney stent Earl completed a full U.S. and Canadian tour with Aesma Daeva.

Earl J Root passed away on Saturday May 24th 2008 at his home in Minneapolis with his wife Nancy at his side. He died of complications from his 10 year contention with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. He is survived by his wife Nancy and son Arron.

Autumn - Nienke De Jong Leaves The Band

Statement by Nienke

Dear all,

Leaving Autumn feels like severing one of my precious limbs; an extraordinarily painful event. As you've read, a mixture of feelings has led to this decision. At some point in the past year, my health seriously abandoned me for the first time in my life. As many of you may know, this forced me to pull out of a number shows. Though it felt horrible having to do this, it did force me to reflect on my life, activities and ambitions.

My life has gone through some serious changes in the last couple of years. Together with my partner, I've brought our studio (Graveland Studio) to a higher level, accelerated proceedings with my own band DejaFuse and started writing material for commercials, motion pictures and other artists. I had never dreamt of doing any of these things in such a way that the two of us could end up making a living off it. More and more, it became apparent to me that I was having difficulty combining all these activities in terms of time, energy and that bit of love you have to invest in them. It dawned on me that Autumn, its fans and all people involved in the band sometimes had to settle for less than the 100% dedicated Nienke that I've always been. This began to frustrate me and could in time end up having a negative effect on Autumn as a band.

"So, after nine years , I am closing my chapter of the beautiful book that is Autumn, hoping there'll be many more chapters to come. I am extremely proud of all we have achieved in the past nine years! We've had to overcome many adversities, but at the same time we've experienced more wonderful things than I'd ever thought possible. With the latest album, Autumn has increasingly developed a unique identity and is currently on a creative high. It gives me great joy that the lads wish to proceed along these lines. All the wonderful compositions these gentlemen have got in store for us, should definitely see the light of day.

"For me, a period in time has now arrived in which I can completely focus on Graveland Studio and Dejafuse. A thrilling, but surely positively exiting time, preceded by this sad decision. I would like to thank my boys (Autumn), Patrick (our tour manager), the crew, the fans, our management, booker, record company and everyone I've had the pleasure of meeting, for these nine amazing years. I will forever cherish all the days and hours we've spent together and all the wonderful memories that spring from these. I hope I will get to hang out with you at one of the two farewell shows next month, before I leave the stage...

Atrocity & Leaves Eyes - Nick Barker The New Drummer

The new drummer of Atrocity and Leaves' Eyes is Nick Barker, who was the former drummer of Cradle Of Filth, Dimmu Borgir and Testament.

Alex Krull: "It's with great pleasure that we can announce Nick Barker is joining the Atrocity and Leaves' Eyes family! We always were great fans of his way of drumming and we are happy that we will kick some ass in the future together! Nick was our No.1 choice! When we heard he would join us we invited him right away!"

Here's a first statement of Nick Barker about joining the two bands:

Nick, how long do you know Alex and the guys of Atrocity and Leaves' Eyes?

Nick: "I've known Atrocity for many years, I think the first time we met was on the Deicide/Atrocity tour in 1992 when I was the drum tech for support band Cancer, and since that time we've always ran into each other on the European summer festival circuit during the years that followed. Whenever I would play in the Stuttgart area with any of my previous bands, some of the guys would always be there and show their support."

How it came that you joined the two bands now?

Nick: "Alex (Krull) approached me at the Metal Hammer award ceremony in London last June (2007) and said that he was looking for a drummer that could handle the complexity and savagery of Atrocity as well as the more softer groove-laden beauty of Leaves' Eyes, and he thought I could be the right man to do both jobs. I had some prior commitments and obligations to fulfil at that time but we spoke over the Christmas period and arranged for me to come to Stuttgart and audition, everything was fantastic both musically and from a social and personal aspect."

How do you like the music of both bands? They are quite different from each other.

Nick: "I absolutely love the diversity of both bands, with Atrocity you have such brutal songs from the "Atlantis" album such as "Reich Of Phenomena","Apocalypse" & "Clash Of The Titans", which I can't wait to play live and sink my teeth into. Then on the other hand you have Leaves' Eyes, which for me is something very new and very exciting as a drummer coming from a mainly Black/Death metal background. Liv has the most beautiful voice in the whole world within this genre and the music is very moving, beautifully crafted and almost spiritual."

You just jammed the first time with the guys at Mastersound Studio. How was it? What are your impressions?

Epica - Simone Infected With MRSA

Dear Epica fans,

Since a couple of months I have been struggling with infections and had surgery many times. The doctors didn't know what was wrong with me. After a lot of tests at the hospital they found out that I am infected with MRSA, also known as the hospital bacteria. The treatment of this bacteria comes with a strict hygienic schedule that I have to work through every day. Because of this I will not be able to go on long trips let alone live in a tour bus. Therefore we are forced to cancel most of our shows in February. The shows on the 22nd and 23rd in Lille and Vosselaar we will still do since they are independent shows and very close by. We cannot plan too far ahead since I first have to get rid of the infection and that will take some time. How long it will take we cannot tell at the moment.

We are very sorry that we cannot do these shows. We were all looking forward to this tour and to meet you guys. What I have to focus on now is getting well, so that we will be on the road again as soon as possible. Please check out our site every once in a while for more information on this matter.

To-Mera - New Samples Available

October 22, 2007

Hi folks

We decided to let you into a sneak preview of the new album "Delusions" that's coming out early next year. There's three brand new samples up on our page for you to check out. A full song will be uploaded in a couple of weeks, so hopefully this will keep you going until then

We've gone for a far more progressive approach musically this time around, and Julie's voice has emcompassed a jazzy style that befits the nature of a lot of the material. These samples don't even come close to portraying the overall variation of styles and moods, but will hopefully give you a rough idea.

Cheers!

Zyklon - Taking A Break

Monday, October 22, 2007

Returning from Japan marks the end of Zyklon's touring activities for "Disintegrate". Japan is always an awesome experience. We had amazing crowds, hospitality and, of course, lots of sake. Looking back on the general touring activities for "Disintegrate", we've seen many of the same clubs and people, but also some new places and a lot of new faces, which has been great. We made it back to the states, even if only for a one-off festival, we played the Roskilde festival, which was really cool opportunity for an extreme metal band like Zyklon, and we did a bunch of other European festivals, some smaller tours, etc. It's been a good run, and a particularly interesting one as Trym, Secthdamon and myself have also done a bunch of big Emperor shows during the same timeline. There have been both pros and cons to that situation, but all in all it's been very cool.

As for future plans, I guess one could say that it's a bit "up in the air" at the moment. Looking back there have been ups and downs during the years with Zyklon. We're not always an easy band to manage, as all members live in different cities and have multiple commitments on different fronts, thus it's often hard for all the logistic and practical things to work. This situation has especially come more into focus in the last year or so, where it has become harder and harder to get the band together when needed, with the spirit and excitement that one expects from a band like this. Basically, I don't feel that we as a band have the fire needed to start working on a new album right now. Therefore Zyklon are taking a break. This is a good time for us to do so. We have completed a good run of shows around the world for our latest album; we have completed all our contractual obligations with Candlelight Records (with success I must add, as Candlelight have treated us well, cheers mates!).

Also, the 'terror-twins', Destructhor and Secthdamon, have plans to go for it with Myrkskog, and will hopefully finally take the actions needed to complete their new, long-delayed, album. I truly hope they will, because this is the time to do it and I know the fans have been waiting for years, and judging from the pre-production material I have heard, it will be massive statement of intricate and brutal death metal. Trym is also working on a new album with his other band, Paganize, at the moment.

Personally, I have a bunch of material written and will keep on working on that over the winter, and basically take it from there. What the future will bring I cannot say at this point. All I know is that we're all active musicians and have no intentions what so ever to stop our mission of METAL!!!

Tristania - New Female Vocalist Revealed

October 19, 2007

Tristania is proud to present their new female singer, Mariangela "Mary" Demurtas. Possessing a voice and talent that will not only complement the bands music, but give it an entirely new dimension. She is sure to usher in a new age of Tristania.

Mariangela Demurtas, aged 25, from the island of Sardinia, Italy, is the singer Tristania was looking, but did not dare hope, for. The band was focusing on voice and talent when they went out looking for a new singer half a year ago. After a thorough search and many audtions, little did they know they would get all that, and more, in the form of Mary.

She's all about music - and metal to the bone. She has performed with several Italian bands, before finally joining up with Tristania. She lists her musical influences to include Janis Joplin, Diamanda Galas, Lisa DalBello, Lauryn Hill, Skin, Chris Cornell and Jeff Buckley. An educated linguist, she has already moved to Norway and settled in Tristania's home town of Stavanger. Although this is not her first time living abroad (she studied for a year in the Dominican Republic at the age of 16), it's living proof of the dedication she brings to Tristania.

Mary brings a whole new dimension to the old as well as the new Tristania material. She is also a creative force, and the band will certainly find itself with yet another bright head when they work on new material. She brings temperament and aggressiveness to the stage, sure to complement Østen nicely. She has experience from the theatre, in addition to having been in sports since she was but a child, both aspects which will surely add character to her stage persona.

Mary has arrived - and she can not wait to meet the fans on tour.

A video introduction of Mary can be found on youtube HERE

To-Mera - Recording Finished; Keyboardist Leaves Band

September.27.2007

Hi, just a note to let you know that To-Mera will be main support to the legendary Fates Warning for their London show. It's at The Underworld, Camden on the 21st November. Tickets are available at the usual online outlets like www.seetickets.co.uk and www.ticketmaster.com. It's only a 500 capacity venue so be quick!

We have also finished recording the follow up to "Transcendental" and it's presently being mixed. It's as yet untitled, but the release date is scheduled for the 18th February 2008. We are again working with Brett Caldas-Lima from Tower Studios. The process of recording, including photos and video clips, was captured in this Blog: http://tomeraband.wordpress.com

All the elements present on the last album have been greatly expanded upon. The music will display a much greater range of moods, tempos and dynamics (ranging from fragile subtlety to epic bombast via everything in between), whilst being simultaneously more sophisticated, yet more melodic and coherent than before. Julie's vocals have become substantially more versatile and powerful. There will be loads more guitar and keyboard (even drum!) solos. But most importantly, we feel this music has a much deeper and more genuine emotional impact to it. We're hoping the finished album will capture that.

Cheers, Lee

---------------------------------------------------

Oct.2.2007

It's with a deep degree of sadness that we have to announce the departure of keyboard player Hugo Sheppard from To-Mera.

Hugo felt that he had been neglecting his own personal musical projects since his time in the band. With a fairly heavy upcoming schedule of touring and promotional work for the upcoming To-Mera album, he was unfortunately unable to commit his time and energy to both projects.

He'll still be involved in the ongoing mixing process for the new record, and his last show with us will be when we support Fates Warning in London on the 21st November.

As a band we wish to thank Hugo for sharing his talent with us for the past two years and we wish him the very best of luck with his future endeavours. It's been a genuine pleasure to work with him.

We'll now be looking for a replacement keyboard player, and are actively seeking applications . Please direct all applications to tomeraband@gmail.com or via a message here at Myspace.
