The follow-up to Stand Up And Fight is upon us. Turisas have just revealed the title of their new album. You would never guess it but it will be called Turisas2013. The release dates have been set for August 21st in Finland, August 26th in Europe and North America on September 3rd through Century Media Records.

The album was produced by vocalist Mathias Nygård and the majority of the album was recorded by Nygård and guitarist Jussi Wickström in a remote house outside of Helsinki. Additional recordings were done in three other studios: the drums at Atomic Spa Studio and orchestral recordings at 5 by 5 Studio, both in Helsinki. A lot of vocals and numerous additional elements were tracked at Sound Supreme Studio in Hämeenlinna where Turisas also recorded The Varangian Way and Stand Up And Fight. The mix and mastering was done in London at Orgone Studios with producer Jaime Gomez Arellano who previously worked with Ghost B.C., Cathedral, Primordial and Ulver, just to name a few.

Mathias "Warlord" Nygård comments: "When it comes to the production it's just the opposite of the polished and massive Stand Up And Fight. It's raw and dry and in your face, but still maintaining that Turisas-largeness. People attest us that we are a great live band and we wanted the album to be based more around that than orchestral massiveness. It's our most varied record to date and even if some of the songs sound very different, I think the common thread is that every single one has a lot of energy to it."

While the band will be playing selected festivals during the summer season, the release of Turisas2013 will be supported by extensive European tour dates like the Heidenfest 2013.

I'm speechless. Don't know if it's good or not..
ArcesseEum - 14.06.2013 at 19:08
The album art is pure shit, but maybe the change of direction is what they need. Stand Up and Fight was just... too much cheese.
Swordbearer - 14.06.2013 at 19:32
Let's hope the songs are better than the titel and cover.
Dark†SymphonY - 14.06.2013 at 19:38
That's an awful cover and the title is just... Didn't like their previous album either.

Couldn't be worse, but if the music is good, I can deal with it. Looking forward

I've got a bad feeling about this...
BloodTears - 14.06.2013 at 21:01
Thank you for agreeing
Dinruth - 14.06.2013 at 21:11
I hope they are joking .. that is easily the worst title ever ... and the cover is pretty bad too
Ellrohir - 14.06.2013 at 21:16
Tell me about bad album titles now...
ImperialTroll - 14.06.2013 at 21:29
Wow. Just wow.

I've got a bad feeling about this...

My thoughts exactly. I really hope its a joke, I can't imagine anyone thinking that cover/title is a good idea. I mean, considering all the band members, label reps, co-producers etc, etc who have their hands in the process, you'd think someone along the way would give him a call and gently tell him the title and cover are absolute shit.
PomPWNius - 14.06.2013 at 23:03
Well bad title is bad, but this could mean they are changing their lyrics to modern day stuff. In which case i say NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

In this case you can judge and album by its cover, just sloppy and downright fucking lazy.
Fallen Ghost - 15.06.2013 at 01:34
Now THAT is a shitty name for an album and cover art!
Vombatus - 15.06.2013 at 03:04
Wooooooooow... but it actually looks great I think, totally unexpected and awkward. Hopefully there will also be some changes music wise after the very meh-ish last one.

I think the message is this simple: "Prepare, we've changed again".

I think you're probably right. Can't wait to see how they've changed!
KainRich - 15.06.2013 at 08:24
Loving the last album, this scares the crap outta me. I thought they were planning on calling the new album Guards of Glory, like the current tour, and remember them mention the recording of symphony pieces awhile back. Did they scrap previous work and ideas for this "new" album?
FeskarN - 15.06.2013 at 12:56
Just a big WTF for me. Don't they have a better way to name a album?! And the cover is just weird..... I hope the music is good afterall but I don't know what to expect about this one.
moe5512 - 15.06.2013 at 14:14
They are probably mixing Dubstep and Folk Metal on this album..

I'm optimistic about this, Stand Up and Fight was amazing, so I'm hoping this can live up to it
F.N.S.C.A.C - 15.06.2013 at 22:56
Another bad move from a band that has only ever gone downhill from the start...
The Shape 1973 - 16.06.2013 at 13:01
Couldn't care less about the title or cover.

I am worried about the description of the music though. The thing I liked about them was the massive production and the film sound track style. If they have moved away from that my interest may move away as well.

Their last album was awful and what scares me about that is people who have no idea who the band is accept it and the band thinks to themselves 'Oh we finally made recognition' and decide to stay on that generic path, crap music and no more energy/creativity. That is exactly what this album cover and title say to me
Cynic Metalhead - 17.06.2013 at 08:38
Is the name taken from Electronic Arts federation?

Why they just don't fucking renamed to Fifa2013?!

Hmmm, yeah it's odd, they converted a lot of people with the last album, which I find odd because I found it to be very moon-spoon-june. The Varangian Way had a lot of depth and thought put into it, Battle Metal was pretty cliche but it had that youthful energy.

If the cover/title is a sign of whats in store, it is indeed going to be a lazy, slapped-together piece of shit.

Generic? I think they would be more popular if they stayed generic, who here wouldn't want a Varangian Way Pt. II? It's pretty unimanous that that is their best album(if not most liked) and its only 8 tracks. My worries is the opposite: that they change too much each album and it might not always be for the best. But I did enjoy most of Stand Up even though it wasnt what I was expecting so maybe this will surprise me too, I hope.

Also, Jussi from the band posted on twitter yesterday "In search for cover art for the fifth Turisas album", so maybe they're just pulling our leg with the title and cover?

Fifth, not fourth

I think they were just visiting Tate Modern and made a mild joke about the happening.

That's true, I guess it is there 4th official album... I'm just all confused now, lol. I think I'm just gonna stop reading too much into all this crap and wait for the music to speak for itself.
Aeterna - 18.06.2013 at 14:36
Still hoping that the title and cover are a joke.. which I think they might pull.
