Amon Amarth - Debut New Video

Amon Amarth have just debuted their brand new video! The Swedish melodic death metallers chose the title track to their 2013 album Deceiver Of The Gods for the video that features clips from the upcoming film, Northmen - A Viking Saga, which stars Tom Hopper, Ryan Kwanten, Ken Duken, and features Johan Hegg as Valli, as you probably know.

The film is scheduled for release this autumn. Do you like the band's new video? It seems like the perfect soundtrack for the movie.

As for Amon Amarth, they will be sailing to Tokyo, Japan for Knotfest 2014. The festival takes place on November 15th and November 16th, with Slipknot headlining both days. Amon Amarth will be performing on the 16th along with Korn, Trivium, In Flames, Five Finger Death Punch, and more.

The band will also be re-conquering North America beginning this month. This time around, they will be bringing fellow Swedes, Sabaton, along for the ride. Additionally, Skeletonwitch will once again be opening the show, except in New York where fans will be treated to the first ever, and exclusive North American performance by extreme metal group Vallenfyre.

I guess some bands find it Difficult to evolve.

You're complaining about something that pretty much goes against the nature of the band. Might as well go complain about Cannibal Corpse still playing death metal.

And while neither band has technically "evolved" (by some standards) both have changed their sound quite noticeably over the years.

Well said.
I laugh with people that are thirst for "evolving" bands. They even consider In Flames a band that evolved with the last release. Omg, they want to see some pokemons.......
I don't accept static progress over the albums but only when it does not change the essence of the band's project.

I wouldn't call it trash but redundant that is for sure... I'm also sure that I'm not the only Amon Amarth fan who is losing interest... however this TV show gimmick is a good idea on their part... but if it is PG13 show about Vikings I'm not interested.

The main reason i can't get into Amon Amarth is the vocalist... he just sucks ass at every range. They need a better growler.

How? He's consistent, has excellent pronunciation, is powerful, and has a good range. If you ask me, he's the only thing about that band that isn't mediocre. He is a perfect vocalist for this type of melodic death metal.

Here, here! I used to love In Flames, but they "evolved" into something I don't like. Amon Amarth keeps serving the exact brand of je ne sais quoi that I love. Good on them. I wish more bands were this stable. Except maybe Amorphis... there is an evolution I liked.

Exactly, Amorphis is one of the few examples.

Yes, you're right. Some bands find it very difficult to go from being an awesome metal band to lame prog-rock bullshit like Opeth.

I just don't hear it. It's too weak and shallow for me, like he doesn't get any depth in his vocal (hard to explain). As a comparison, listen to the guy from Be'Lakor (who is pretty close in technique) and gets depth.

Yeah, I do agree that Be'lakor has an excellent vocalist, but I don't think I will ever think of Johan as a bad vocalist.

Agreed. Surprising to hear someone say Hegg lacks power in his growls, considering that's his defining trait, along with his ability to enunciate.

Well, i guess i am the minority on this one! I literally cannot get into the band because of the vocals. Maybe the enunciation is too good (as i don't care for lyrics)? ... i don't know, i just know he is literally one of the worst MDM vocalists i've heard for my tastes.

I guess what i meant to say is that IMHO i feel like Amon Amarth need to change up the formula. I'm not suggesting that they start playing PROG lol, but the Quality of their music has gone down. Any fan of the band will tell you how amazing 'With Odin On Our Side' was (and the album definitely holds its own) its a FACT that they haven't been able to equal that album with a follow up
