Napalm Death - Set New Album Title And Release Date

Napalm Death's new album already has a title and release date. Mark your calendars for January 26th, 2015 in Europe and January 27th, 2015 in North America. That's when you will be able to get your hands on the record. The first details about the grindcore group's new album have been revealed. Their 15th studio album will be entitled Apex Predator - Easy Meat and will be released via Century Media Records. That is all for now. You can expect more details later.

Vocalist Mark 'Barney' Greenway said regarding the album's title and concept: "Sometimes you have to ponder long and hard for an album title, but following the Rana Plaza disaster of last year (collapse of a textile sweatshop building in Bangladesh), it spurred me on to try and craft an expose slave labour in the modern world (and the surrounding conditions propping it up).

"Some in power like to declare that slavery is consigned to the history books. But if you look beneath the surface it is alive and well in many different forms - it just has a different face now, and exists in ways that may seem ethically ambiguous. Using the terminology of evolution particularly interests us, so in this case the 'Apex Predator' represents those who bring the slavery to bear (and capitalise from it), and the 'Easy Meat' is of therefore those who feel they have no option but to comply.

"Fittingly, the music on Apex Predator - Easy Meat is punishing. We feel it's more ambient, more expansive, more unsettlingly discordant than ever, and importantly, still extremely rampant at excessive speed. We hope in every respect - both musically and lyrically - this album will make your eyes burn with the harsh sonics and harsh visions of the dumping ground of globalisation."

Some song titles already revealed: "Copulating Snakes", "Dear Slum Landlord" (aired at Roadburn 2014), "What Is Past Is Prologue" and "Stunt Your Growth".

Moreover, Napalm Death have recently been announced to appear at 2015's edition of the 70,000 Tons Of Metal cruise in the Caribbean (Florida / Jamaica) from January 22nd to 26th alongside bands like Arch Enemy, Behemoth, Blind Guardian, Cannibal Corpse, Municipal Waste and many more.

I've no problem with the title: an apex predator prefers easy meat and that translated to Barney's views seems ok to me.
Apex Predator happens to be a song title of Cavalera Conspiracy's new album Pandemonium too.

I'm always happy to see Napalm. Still reign as equal best live band I've seen (with a couple of other bands, maybe 3 others). I have to wonder if they'd headline though as they play quite a lot over here (which I why I still think Agoraphobic Nosebleed might have a shot given their rarity, even though Pig Destroyer are bigger but not headlining). But yeah, Napalm should be at every fest.

Yeah AN would be perfect for the job. I saw ND twice and they were too drunk to play right both times. I want them to redeem themselves. But we'll know in ten days who gets the spot. Soon enough.

That's a shame. Two out of the three times I saw them they were spot on (gigs separated by about 8 years so not bad) and the third time was at an experimental art installation and the music sounded poo, which is to be expected when the PA system is made out of clay I suppose.

Yeah you told me about that experiment. The thing that didn't crumble after all. Shame.

Whoa, that's so uncool. I've heard of Phil Anselmo doing this but wouldn't have expectied it from Napalm Death. How unprofessional and disrespectful to their fans.

Well, it wasn't completely shit either, and they were very funny in between the songs. The second time was at Hellfest. I think they were the last band playing the last set on Sunday. Provided they spent the day like their audience, I understand why they were tired and drunk. But I was disappointed, as you say, not very pro.

Their slow concert at Roadburn was pretty sick though. Glad to see the ambient and slow extreme stuff wasn't just one time only.

Agreed, as a matter of fact sometimes I actually prefer them in that style. Think this new record's gonna be pretty enjoyable if that's what one is looking for

I have seen ND about 15 times now and only three times were they any good (never great) the other times they were too drunk too stand on their own feet.

Saw one song at Roadburn and they were totally sloppy even though playing slow and left the place in disgust.
