Gavin Harrison - Drummer Releasing Album Of Reworked Porcupine Tree Songs

Porcupine Tree's drummer Gavin Harrison (also in King Crimson and with a solo career) will release a new album, Cheating The Polygraph, on Kscope in early April featuring surprising new arrangements of many of his favourite Porcupine Tree songs, boasting performances from some of the world's best contemporary jazz players. This could be interesting. What do you think?

You might remember that Cheating The Polygraph is also the name of one of the tracks on Porcupine Tree's EP Nil Recurring. The drummer Gavin Harrison been working on this for 5 years. You can expect more details about it soon.

Also, in case you are wondering, Porcupine Tree's vocalist/guitarist Steven Wilson has denied the rumour that the band will be recording a new album, at least any time soon. So, it might happen one day but it's not in his plans right now. He is more focused on his upcoming solo album Hand. Cannot. Erase.

Quoted for truth! Since Wilson doesn't seem to care much, at least Gavin is doing something interesting related to PT. I for one can't wait to hear this!

I'm always a bit cautious to get excited about an album of reworkings, but I'll definitely be checking it out just in case. If anyone can pull it off....

Yep, this will be good. Pretty much like the Crimson Jazz Trio by Ian Wallace.
