Wacken Open Air 2016 - Ban Backpacks And Bags
Wacken Open Air 2016 will tighten the security measures in the wake of the recent terrorist attacks in Germany, including a July 24th suicide bomber at an Ansbach music festival. Due to security concerns, all backpacks and bags are banned from the event area. This year, 1349, Alcest, Arch Enemy, Blind Guardian, Equilibrium, Ihsahn, Iron Maiden, Marduk, Testament, Triptykon, just to name a few, will perform at the festival this summer. Some 80,000 metal fans will be heading to Wacken Open Air next week.
Here is the message from the fest: "Dear Metalheads, in the light of current events, the festival operators and the safety authorities have decided to ban all backpacks and bags from the event area, due to security concerns. This includes also the Full Metal Bags. The event area consists of the Wackinger Village, Wacken Center, Wacken Plaza, Metal Market, Beer Garden and the Infield. (See the Holy Wacken Land map here.)
"Belt bags and the known foldable water bottle from the Full Metal Bag are still allowed. You can leave your bags and valuables in the Safe Deposit Trucks next to the entries A and B. Please mark all bags and backpacks with your mobile number and your name. We trust in your understanding. This measure serves the general security. We're looking forward to an awesome and rain free W:O:A - we can't wait to welcome you back! Thomas Hess (event manager) & the W:O:A Crew."
