Maybe they should have just performed 'Icon' in concert in its entirety and released the recording as a live album, the way they did it with 'Draconian Times'?
The album is a classic for good reason, it works as a time capsule for so many people and I absolutely love its sound, however imperfect.
On the other hand, Nick's vocal performance on the original version was underwhelming in places, so I understand why the band should be a little unsatisfied with the end result.
All things considered, I'll most likely buy a copy, but I'm still not sure how I feel about this undertaking.
Would be nice to hear the improved vocals though.

One of my favorite albums, not sure whether it needs a re-recording, but if the band has fun doing it, why not.

I think its new way to earn something, not focus to new album but old. I say first 5 should be re recorded

Not sure about that either. If i remember right, they've already remastered some of the early albums.
With a re-recording, the context and the spirit of the time can get lost (if that makes sense).

Blind Guardian should re record asap first 2 and then next 3

Not sure, what to say, even if many classics have been remastered, re-recorded, re-whatever, i still prefer the original ones, the ones i fell in love with. maybe the new version sounds better, but it will miss the aura and the feeling of the original one...IMHO.

Might be anecdotal but one thing I've noticed with re-recordings is they're more for newer fans as opposed to older ones. Older fans will usually prefer the original but newer/younger fans may not like the older sound. For example, I personally love Amorphis's Magic & Mayhem re-recordings but i'm a newer fan of the band and didn't like the original singer or sound. On the flip side, I didn't like the Blind Guardian re-recordings on Memories but I've been listening to them for a long time so I much prefer the originals. For Paradise Lost, I'll likely prefer the original of Icon, but I would like to hear a re-recording of Gothic, never could get into the sound of that.
