Both Skeletonwitch and Absu play music which lies somewhere between Black, Thrash, and Death metal.
Which band do you prefer, and why?

Personally I would say Skeletonwitch because of their notoriously good live shows, although I have yet to see them live.

I prefere Absu better absu lyrics and music is complicated sometimes to much for USA band and I like it lil betetr even Skeletonwitch is good to so i vote for Absu

I suppose Absu lyrics are better... but I definitely prefer Skeletonwitch's music... It's just more thrashy, more aggressive.
But hey ! Absu's a very good band as well, don't get me wrong.

Absu. Skeletonwitch have only ever been decent for me whereas Absu seem to keep getting better. And they're stupidly fast and technical in a really sexy way.

Damn this is actually a tough call. It depends on my mood I guess.

Meh, never cared for Absu as much as Skeletonwitch. Skeletonwitch are consistent throughout their albums whereas Absu have only released two albums or so that interested me.

Agreed, for me apart from Third Storm of Cythraul and Tara... I'm not much interested.

Absu for me... Their last couple of albums have been fantastic.

Yeah jeez this is tough. I'll go Skeletonwitch, Forever Abomination was stuck (literally) in my CD player for awhile, and it rocked pretty hard.

No kidding. If Skeletonwitch is "average" I think we're in really good shape.

Personally, I prefer the much more basic, straightforward delivery of Skeletonwitch. Absu just never clicked with me.

My guess is it looks through posts for buzz words like" sex", and repeats them to grab people's attention.

If I'm right this means is more than you being quotable, you're a whore.

On topic apparently I voted on this poll and if I had to guess it was probably for Skeletonwitch but honestly these bands aren't even really that similar. Absu is like 99% black metal (100?) and Skeletonwitch is thrash/NWOBHM structured, if not for the vocals there would be almost 0 black metal in them at all. Granted I am no expert in black metal but based on the 1 Absu album I have and all the SW albums I have they are really different on multiple levels.

Absu all the way. But I agree with Matt that both bands aren't too similar, pretty much on opposite sides of the black/thrash spectrum.

I agree to that, I mean ... I'll listen to each of 'em when I'm in two completely different moods.

I own three Absu albums and one Skeletonwitch.
Based on what I have/have listened to,
My vote goes to Absu.
