I'm probably going to sign up for an Egg one too that's for pick up the same location. Only $.50 more than supermarket eggs. I'd be crazy to not do that.
We grow our own vegetables and peaches but we know a friend with a cattle farm out here so we get from them but it’s not delivered, though that would be really nice
I couldn't find a topic like this, so I'm not sure if there's a lot of interest in it. But since one of the biggest reasons for my coming here is to discover new music, I think we ought to have a topic dedicated to recommending the latest and greatest music to have just been released. We have staff picks and great reviews already, but a lot of stuff goes under the radar. So share your exciting new discoveries or the comebacks of old favorites with the rest of us here.
I guess it's nice to start this from the beginning of the year, but you can of course recommend some 2010 albums you think were overlooked, too.
My recommendations that haven't already been covered by MS reviews are, so far:
Crowbar - Sever The Wicked Hand: Kirk got sober and found Jesus. Good for him, I guess. It doesn't show in the music, which is as thick, sludgy and melancholy as ever before. Another solid addition to an incredibly consistent discography, if not quite their strongest effort.
DoomSword - The Eternal Battle: I've been pretty unfamiliar with DoomSword for a long time even if I've known about them and heard a song here and there. That's still the case. From what I can tell, though, The Eternal Battle is not quite as doomy and epic as their first albums but rather leans towards traditional heavy metal with the faster riffs and stuff. Pretty impressive nonetheless, there's something authentic and endearing about the band. (Couldn't find a sample, sorry.)
Weedeater - Jason... The Dragon: The sludge/stoner act Weedeater buzzes and crushes away with a deep, heavy sound that really appeals to me. When they're loud, they're tight. There's some strange filler and interludes on this album that don't really fit in, though.
Orchid - Capricorn: Orchid have released a lauded EP already, but Capricorn is their first full-length. They play groovy old school Sabbath worship. It's not new, but why should it be when it's this good?
Written by ß on 04.12.2011 at 23:01 Striborg isn't that bad...
I actually enjoy Striborg, but I don't have any qualms with people voicing their distaste for it. And let's be honest, the production is fucking awful.

I kind of enjoy Striborg. I think people make it to be worse then it actually. Sure the production is quite terrible, but at least isn't as bad as Zarach Baal Tharagh

Btw weirdly enough it is considered a full length even though it's only 2 tracks and 22 minutes long
Usually I'd feel a bit gypped because of the length but it's a very short and very sweet album that does more than most black metal bands this year in those 22 minutes. I'd say they should have released their two 2011 records as one but the styles are totally different.

Btw the info the guy typed under the clip is wrong. The band is not from the UK, Surachai is from Chicago, Illinois, USA

More excellent black metal, this time from the UK. Kinda chaotic, post-black/industrial-ish craziness. For fans of Dødheimsgard, Ved Buens Ende and such:
Also gonna repost this as it got lost in conversation on the last page:
Seriously excellent unique sounding black metal (Marcel's suggestion actually):
The second track (of only two) is even better but there are no clips.
By far and away one of the most bizarre and offbeat black metal bands ever. Listening to the album now and I think I love it, batty as hell style but extremely listenable once you get into it. Thanks to Mikyz for this one.
this is strangely addictive. Just checked the album, 2 discs! tonnes of songs though. Kinda puts me off.

It's like a grindcore album in terms of the tracklist.
Joe's review of it is definitely informative if you wanna get more background info than just a Youtube track and tracklist.

Antichrist - Forbidden World | Probably the thrash album of the year, I recommend the demos as well.
Morbus Chron - Sleepers in the Rift | Well done Autopsy-influenced old school death metal, but still full of refreshing and creative riffs
Lord Vicar - Signs of Osiris | An album I really looked forward to. I was not disappointed, I would say they have improved almost everything from the first album to a next level; singing, riffing, songwriting... Recommended!

I'm curious about this one, but can't find anything about it, so I might buy it 'blindly'. Do you think it would appeal to a Reverend Bizarre fan like me?

Peter Vicar is in it, so what do you think?

Oh yes, I've got those and they're both very good. I doubt Antichrist as best thrash, but awesome nevertheless.

Yes, great riffing! It's no Albert singing though, haha
