Believer is not the easiest band to get into, whether you take their eighties material or the two reunion albums. Gabriel, the band's first album after a 15-year break, sounded like crap upon the first couple of dozen listens, making sense after a few months or so. Now, Transhuman is definitely not easier to get into, and it might not be a very pleasant experience because the album does not unfold some concealed brilliance after given proper attention; one simply needs time to accept what the band are trying to present.
I have been reading a little about the Transhumanism and Posthuman, and i have to say it is a very very interesting theme, so certainly i'm wishing to listen the album. And by the way, the cover art is very accurate according with the album's concept, i love this cover .
If you are thinking to get this record searching the thrash (or some thing fast hehe) on it , better forget it. At the moment only i have heard a few listenings, but inside this progressive thing there are some parts that are great and complex (and some times even sounds very odd! Raro, raro, raro jaja)).
The pathetically meek vocals ruin all the memorable moments that this album is somewhat capable of. What a shame. I'd advice them to kick out the vocalist as soon as possible. From what I've heard, they've got potential in songwriting.
Worst album I've heard this year, and the first of which I can affirm that I dislike.

i think it's acquired taste really. i still remember disliking Gabriel upon my first listen, but I decided to give it a few more goes because there was something I could not pin-point. I'm glad I did. I've only heard Transhuman once, but I remember liking it quite a lot :3

The notion of repeated listens could go both ways. In some cases, it might help you discover something you might've been missing out on, as you said, while in the other instance you try so hard to find the "missing links" that you actually force yourself to like the album. I think my first impression regarding the album is right on the money. Regardless, I'm going to give it a second spin, just for the heck of it. The vocals do suck in my opinion, acquired taste or not.

I know what you mean by forcing yourself to like the album. Which is always why when I listen to albums I normally have at least a one week interval between each listen to allow other music to balance things out and at the same time have different mind sets. Anyway, vocals have always been the least important part to me, as long as they are not overly cheesy, so each to their own really.
Well, in my opinion the album is specially good from track 6 until track 11, but between these songs you have the instrumental experiment track 7 "Currents" it is no metal, but i like it, not bad, and helps to contribute with the special atmosphere of this album. Only the songs "Clean Room","Ego Machine" and "Being No One" have some thrashy fast moment, but really very little, it is almost testimonial. By the way, it is not usual to highlight the bass, but very good work, i love the bass in this band.
Highlights:
01. Lie Awake
06. Clean Room
08. Traveler (i love it)
09. Ego Machine
10. Being No One (i love it)
I love this album! this is the album I've always wanted from these guys! Can't give it full 10 points though, because it's little bit too long but still a great album!
I think Transhuman is a very misunderstood and underrated album. This time they decided to tone down the thrash metal thing and move towards progressive metal, so people expecting another Sanity Obscure or Dimensions will surely be disappointed. I can see the band's point, it would be quite stupid to make the same albums over and over again, particularly when the originals were killer 10/10 records to begin with. However, there are plenty of thrashy elements here and there, making this a highly interesting mix of two very different genres.
