Hmm... tough call. I think I'd go for a depressive black/death doom band with the following musicians: Mikael Stanne (Dark Tranquillity) - vocals (love his growls) Vincent Cavanagh (Anathema) - guitar, vocals (emotional clean vocals, soulful guitar playing) Don Anderson (Agalloch) - guitar (master of the grandpa guitar) Draug (Svart) - bass, vocals (young but talented multi-instrumentalist) Steven Merry (Be'lakor) - keyboards (responsible for the atmosphere in Be'lakor's songs) Markus Hirvonen (Insomnium) - drums (he's varied and has shows discipline playing slower songs) Guest musician: Jonas Renkse (Katatonia) - vocals (would love to have him and Danny trading clean vocals in a song) Or maybe a progressive technical brutal death metal band with the following musicians: Julien Truchan (Benighted) - vocals (pig squeals and br00tal grunts) Shaun LaCanne (Putrid Pile) - vocals (see above) Bart Frydrychowicz (Quo Vadis) - guitar (brilliant compositions and technicality) Muhammed Suiçmez (Necrophagist) - guitar (see above) Sean Beasley (Dying Fetus) - bass (because he actually makes it known that he's in the recording studio) Joanne Bench (Bolt Thrower) - keyboards (because she's a fucking boss) Daray (Vader) - drums (just listen to The Art of War EP) Guest musicians: Jeroen Paul Thesseling (Pestilence) - bass solo (6-string madness motherfuckers) Dominic "Forest" Lapointe (Augury) - bass solo (another brilliant and noticeable bassist Yanic Bercier (Quo Vadis) - drum solo (my all-time favorite drummer, absolute technical prowess) Proscriptor (Absu) - drum solo (probably the quickest man behind the kit) I guess the goal was to combine some of my favorite musicians with musicians who aren't limited to one instrument and can contribute to the songwriting process. Not all of these guys are the best at their respective instruments and not all of them are even my favorite, but I think if you get these names together they could make some really interesting music.

---^ 9.5/10 Orion (Vesania, Behemoth): Lead Vocals ICS Vortex (if you don't know, i'm sorry): Bass, backing shrieks, Lead Clean Vocals Jari Maenpaa (Wintersun, etc.): Lead Guitar, backing clean vocals. Ihsahn (Emporer, etc.): Rhythm Guitar, Backing clean vocals. Sverd (Arcturus): Keyboards Hellhammer( Mayhem, Age of Silence etc.): Drums They'd make Technical, yet atmospheric black metal, of the better production quality. I know some of you fucks are disgusted with this list, and who cares. But If I heard Jari, Ihsahn, and vortex doing a clean 3-peice harmony, i'd probably shit myself.

I'm not a fan of that line-up at all, but I can imagine the response to them producing music together. The fact that most of them on their own have enough of a following means any group project material would carry the highest of expectations. And given the talent in the studio, you'd assume they'd live up to those expectations.

I'm going to go with a thrash line-up here. Steve "Zetro" Souza- Vocals Cliff Burton- Bass Paul Bostaph- Drums Kerry King- Rhythm Guitar Gary Holt- Lead Guitar Just gotta love Steve's work on Exodus's "Tempo Of The Damned", "Fabulous Disaster" and "Force of Habit". The same goes for Gary Holt, except I'm referring to all of Exodus's other work as well. And while Kerry King is definitely one of my favorite guitarists, I prefer Gary Holt's solos more. Paul Bostaph on drums. Just listen to Slayer's song "Killing Fields" or their amazing piece of work "God Hates Us All", and add Exodus's "Shovel Headed Kill Machine" and Testament's "Formation of Damnation" to that list and then there is no more to be said. Cliff Burton is the reason I started playing bass, and I love his style of playing. Is he the best bassist who ever lived? Probably not. But is he one of the best? Most likely.

As many members as i want, eh. Drums - either Hellhammer or Mikky Dee. Or both (2 drummers would allow for some really great drum parts) Bass - Steve Harris Guitar - Tony Iommi, Herman Li and Izzy Stradlin' Guitar/cello - Samantha Escarbe Keyboard/synth - Mustis Violin - Katie Stone and either Sarah Pendleton or Kim Pack Flutes/woodwinds - Thijs van Leer and Sevan Kirder Saxophone - Dr Mikannibal Guitar/vocals - Ihsahn, Mikael Akerfeldt and Lord Tim Bass/vocals - Abbath Piano/vocals - Rowan London Vocals - Kimberly Goss, King Diamond, Rob Halford, Sharon den Adel, Marco Heitala, Piotr Wawrzeniuk, Risa Reaper, Tarja Turunen, Runhild Gammelsaeter, ICS Vortex, Lord Kaiaphas, Dominique Persi and Marcus Jupither. Hows that for an 18 piece chior. The 2nd violin, 2nd flute and sax would just be to fill the sound out some more. Also left out a dozen more vocalists and a couple of guitarists so it wouldn't get TOO big. The ones there would be able to handle about anything needed. And bring in Lemmy, Christofer Johnsson, Tuomas Holopainen, Arjen Lucassen and AA Nemtheanga as additional songwriters.

To an extent this is already done: Hail Of Bullets. If I were to customize a band, it would be Death Metal/Brutal Death Metal and this would be my ideal lineup: Drums - Krzysztof Saran (Deivos) Vocals/Bass - Alex Camargo (Krisiun) Guitars/Lead Guitars - Vogg (Decapitated) Guitars/Rhythm Guitars - David Depasquale (Abysmal Torment) Note: optionally, Martin Van Drunen on Vocals, though I think he fits a slightly less heavy formula that what I'm trying to present.
