So, the title says it all. I made this so the ones here that like nu metal can discuss about the bands we like. So about me, I like:

Godsmack (Although for me it's Alternative), because their songs are really cool, and they have great lyrics and the "Changes" DVD is simply awesome, and theitr drums are great. Sully's voice is quite unique, and their lyrics are pretty nice.

Slipknot, because of their energy, the outfits look great, and their lyrics make me laugh, besides their live shows are quite impressive. Also Vol. 3 is a change, IMO they found that they don't have to scream for everything, and they prove it with a great accoustic song.

Disturbed: David's voice is great. and with their thrid album,. 10.000 fists" they try a new, more melodic sound. besides Dan Donegan proves himself as a great guitar player

KoRn: But only the first albums.

Evanescence, because Amy lee has a great voice, but their last album, "The Open Door" was a big letdown for me.

Also Adema, TrustCompany, Breaking Benjamin, Linkin Park, Chevelle, Mudvayne, Soil and I enjoy Metallica's St. Anger.

So that's it. If you have band suggestions you can and must post them as well. If you don't like Nu metal, please don't post bashing bands and attacking with things like "X band sucks" or "Nu metal sucks". Please, let's have some respect for the other fellow MSers taste.

Korn and System of a Down were a huge part of me getting into Metal and I still love both bands.

Slipknot: though I prefer their self-titled album to what came after. Really unique sounds and insanity in that first record.

Disturbed: an easy band to enjoy imo, a great band to get non metalheads into Metal walking a line between accessibility and traditional aspects of the genre. I genuinely believe (no pun intended) Draiman has one of the best voices (also no pun intended) in Metal.

Limp Bizkit: honestly their debut is a pretty interesting sound and their later dumb songs can be fun to listen to. ( and easily I'll take them over the boring ass music that passes for radio rock nowadays)

Otep: first two albums have some of the angstiest lyrics I've ever heard and in this genre that's an achievement lol. I particularly like her spoken word-ish tracks, I find them unique and interesting to listen to.

Static-X: I used to listen to the Machine album all the time, I think the Industrial wing of the genre may have been the one that aged best.

Others with songs I still get but haven't heard enough of their output to consider myself a true fan: Drowning Pool (if they count), Kittie, Sevendust, Coal Chamber, Spineshank, Mudvayne.

Ahhh Nu Metal, a Subgenre which all other Metal subgenres have effectively "disowned". A subgenre that's so cringy/bad....that it's actually kind of good

Guilty pleasure I suppose, but I no longer hide it. It's good to vibe to when you're smoking cannabis

For me it's mostly nostalgia. When I was 11 - 12 years old, Nu Metal was at its' popularity peak. As a matter of fact, it was Nu Metal which initially got me into Metal in the first place.

I went to a prestigious international school here in Nassau, Bahamas. In the 5th grade, two American classmates of mine (both hailing from the West coast) got me into KoRn and I was blown away. Their 1999 album, 'Issues' was the one! Before that, I flirted with Reggae music (I'm still very into the more ganja-friendly and conscious reggae to this day). But it was that album by KoRn which got me into Hard rock and Metal.

After that, I discovered Slipknot (their 1999 debut record is still easily their best work imo).....That record in particular, will always have a special place in my heart!

Also I got into the debut record from Taproot, the debut from Mudvayne, the debut from Snot.

Nothingface had that good record, "Violence"

Sevendust were also a good band, their singer as an amazing voice!

Fucking Soulfly!! The first few Soulfly records were fire.

There was also Static-X and Spineshank..... They're more like hybrids between Nu Metal and Industrial.

I grew up on that shit

It wasn't until I heard the following tracks that I started branching out of Nu Metal and into more respectable / legit Metal:

Morbid Angel - "Summoning Redemption"
Napalm Death - "Cleanse Impure"
Pantera - "This Love"
Slayer - "Bloodline", "Angel Of Death"
Testament - "Practice What You Preach"

,through Soulfly, I got into Max Cavalera's old band, Sepultura. Then of course, my Dad showed me Black Sabbath.

.....But I ended up finding my way back to Nu Metal. I never cared for those gawd awful Rap Metal bands though.

Nu metal, it makes me feel like a kid again.

I love Slipknot but they are more than a Nu-metal band. They evolved. Although, I love the first three albums most.
