Once in a while there comes a time when new ways open up for music. Frontiers are being torn down and ideas can stream freely, going on a journey that takes them through many discussions and lets the creator experience both hatred and admiration. It always takes its time until a new sound is essentially established and the occasions where one can witness the birth of a new style are rare. So we are truly fortunate drunkards to live in the time where Zeal And Ardor release their second album to date, Devil Is Fine.

Come On Down probably is my most played song this year. Great to see how much attention this is getting. Rightfully so.

The spiritual stuff is very good, but the metal parts are maybe a bit generic. Great addition to the ms database. Now add Mombu as well

When pushing / smashing boundaries, simple, archetypal stuff often works better. Such as it did with Botanist's debut.

I'm mixed about this release, I really wanna like it but I don't know, there'S something I still need to understand from it. I'll give it many tries.
I can't help myself but think this release doesn't need metal Anyways. I'll give it more spins.

Quite original fusion here, but I don't find the components work out for my tastes. It's still good, though! Thanks to whoever brought this to MS!

Omg I skipped the song when my mum was in my room for that very reason. In saying that, I wouldn't judge one for listening to ISIS music. It's quite pleasant to the ear.

Hahaha, I lol'd And agree, ISIS is one of my favorite bands

Unbelievable, easily the best avant-garde of the year (though I wonder whether it will stick with me as much as Terra Tenebrosa does).
Children's Summon is an amazing track.

Briliant and weird album! very new to me, but i wish it was longer.

The third track is something that i think muslims won't like it cause it sounds blasphemous those arabic words are a call to pray.

I appreciate the eclectic variety here but it would've been better with more actual "songs" rather than just the 2 bm tracks here. Overall a good fun album though but I think he is yet to hit the stride.

Sacrilegium I is my most played song here though, weirdly.

Dude... mine as well. Strange. I honestly wouldn't mind a full album of tracks more akin to that one, seems as though this dude is capable of making some pretty decent electronic music as well

Hahaha, cheers. But really though I feel kinda guilty pleasure overplaying an electronic track in a bm album but then it seems the album is like that and as you said he really does have some good production skills too.

Don't know if I like it or not. It's very short which helps to digest all the ideas. However all the stuff going on is not always that great and maybe I was expecting something more "metal", but I can barely hear it. And when I do, it's quite average. Some electro parts and vocal approach are rather excellent but can't buy the hype around this. Needs more spins to be sure.

It's an interesting experiment for sure, but as an album it doesn't really do much aside from being eclectic. I usually just listen to "Come On Down" and skip the rest, now that's a great tune. I'm optimistic for future releases though. A successful experiment can lead to a solid, refined product.

Only a matter of time before someone did this. Although I would've honestly chosen Blood In The River over the other track here.

The album is selling like hotcakes over at Reflections Records. It seems like Johan Prenger has hit the jackpot (as far as that is possible for such a small label) with it.
