German thrash metal veterans Darkness are saddened to announce the departure of bassist Dirk Hamilton due to health issues. Ben Biller (The Thrill), who already was guitar and bass tech of the band, will take over the bass duties until further notice.

Statement from the group: "Maybe some of you know that Dirk Hamilton wasn't able to play two concerts in 2018 and one concert in 2019 for health reasons. Darkness had to play these shows without Bass player and there are reasonable doubts if Dirk will be able to play forthcoming shows. It was already sure that he would miss at the Taunus Metal Festival, Germany on April 4th 2019. This circumstance is dissatisfying for the audience, the organizers and the band.

"There is no idea when this situation will get better and Dirk will be able again to play; so a decision had to be made. With deep regret we have to announce that Darkness and Dirk have to separate. We wish Dirk all the best and that he will get well soon. Though the situation is tense at present: Dirk will always be an important part of Darkness. From now on Ben Biller (The Trill, ex-One Bullet Left) who already was guitar and bass tech of Darkness will play the bass."
