Hell yes! Olympiakos made it to the Conference League final against Fiorentina. Football got interesting for the first time in forever. Let's bring the title home to Greece!
It's crazy how much nonsense I've heard for people who don't truly understand the offside rule (but then again, it's a pretty complex set of rules on paper).
@ Cynic, if you're talking about the 2nd goal, then you're very, very wrong. They were robbed only on that late offside which actually wasn't, and that's that.
As metal’s flirtations with the saxophone have intensified in the past decade or so, few bands have more effectively married the genre and the instrument than White Ward, and False Light is another true reflection of their talents.
I listened to the first 5 tracks last night from the Youtube stream. It sounds pretty run of the mill IMO. Standard post-black with good marketing from the BaN boys.

The black metal vocals are a bit run of the mill (although a different clean vocal style plays a prominent role in "Cronus") . But everything else sounds pretty great to me!
The saxophone and occasional audio samples are a nice touch. The guitar-work is solid, with some really nice heavier moments (also on "Cronus") and atmospheric moments (and I think "Echoes In Eternity" is a reference to Pink Floyd's "Echoes"). (Actually, the beginning of the title track with that groovy sax makes me think of Pink Floyd "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" as well )
And what really stands out for me is the drumming - I'm no expert on drumming, but just listen to how fast that guy is going on "Phoenix" (where the album really hits its stride IMO)
In conclusion, a really impressive album, I'd say. And if you've only listened to the first 5 songs, I'd suggest checking out the epic title track - the song structure is kind of messy, but every instrument and vocal style of the album gets a chance to shine!
It's certainly an impressed release, there's a lot going on, and all kinds of genre fusions, I particularly like the jazz influences, but there is also some progressive aswel as the obvious post black, also this is some of the most well written songwriting I've heard so far this year, that's along with Kardashev's earlier release.
It's not the most exciting listen for me by any means, but it's rather a remarkable progressive journey, full of deep thought and emotion, with lot's of detail that requires full attention.

I do agree that the vocals are run of the mill, but I do love what I did with everything else. It's emotional and that saxophone. Never thought a saxophone would be so emotional.
Meh. It was decent, but not great. Maybe I need to be in a different mood and a few more listens will have it catch on for me. I'll have a few more go's at it and then maybe revise my rating. Vocals are definitely meh, that won't change
Would it kill a post metal band to begin a track without minutes of indistinguishable ambience? Just cut to the chase and spare the insufferable boredom.

It's funny how much shite Shade Empire got for using a sax but this being post (🤮) metal is automatically AOTY material.
This is why I don't hang out with metalheads anymore. Honestly 🤦♂️
Love the first track and the two that follow are very worthy. The other five tracks are quite good, but nothing that makes me want to revisit it. Do other albums have interesting tracks like the first three?

Made me remember SE and their sax/trumpet moments as well.

This is my first experience with White Ward and I quite enjoy False Light. I bought the album after hearing Leviathan because it completely drew me in with its atmosphere and writing. Even with the bar set high I felt somehow unprepared when I found out that Phoenix is even better. It was a pleasure to discover that nearly every song has something spectacular to offer. This album has excellent attention to detail and while there are many hypnotic softer sections there is so much ferocity to the writing that I can’t help but be blown away when everything strikes in full force. The guitars constantly show their flawless black metal teeth and the scream/growl vocals are easily of the same quality. For an album graced by so many great melodies and riffs I was surprised that I liked it just as much, if not more so, rhythmically. The drumming has so much personality that it is one of the highlights as well. The overall mix of the album sounds fantastic too, especially the drums.
I only have two issues. The clean vocals just aren't very good but that can be overlooked when everything else is top notch. I also felt like the sax could have explored more variety with how it was being played. Saxophones can easily be just as aggressive as any guitar and while there was a tiny bit of that I can't fault them for wanting to keep the saxophone a mostly drawn out lamenting layer to the writing.

In the beginning I was made of clay. Then I bit the apple and they changed me to metal 🤘
No definitely not for me.....especially the +6 min lengthy songs and the tried and tired vocal styles of the genre.... Reg the lengthy tracks, Kardashev was exceptional but not this..... Sax in one track reminded me of a Western classic movie bgm.

One of the most innovative bands in black metal. I love the White Ward's musical approach to flirting with the sax. Compared to its predecessor, this album focuses on developing the less extreme side, which means it sounds more fluid to my ears. White Ward have pushed the envelope to evolve in each release. This album is another giant leap in a powerful trajectory.
