In the [too much unknown] French Metal scene, some bands like No Return, Manigance or Anorexia Nervosa make their path. Day after day the French Metal bands are better and better, stronger and stronger and more and more recognized. If these bands can be considered like leaders of the French metal movement, since this year and the release of Furia : Un Lac De Larmes Et De Sang on the excellent French label Adipocere Records, we can feel like a little hurricane in all the French productions. Why Just because this young band from Macon [France] has certainly create the perfect album, which can definitely launch them on the orbit of the European [and maybe worldwide] metal scene.

Recorded at F/B studio [France] by McBichon and mastered by Mika Jussila at Finnvox Studios [Finland] I won't linger over the production, which is just excellent and perfect. Nothing to say... Same thought for the artwork of the CD and the beautiful drawings of Amandine Labarre.

Let's go directly to the music of Furia. To begin, I must advert you that Un Lac De Larmes Et De Sang is a concept album and the following of the first [and also excellent] CD of the French band, A La Quete Du Passe, which tells the story of a warrior, Hares. This is an original Fantasy story from the band and all the lyrics are of Mehdi who plays keyboards. By the way, you must know that there are no verses nor choruses in the lyrics, just because the singer of Furia tells us a story and just because the lyrics are a dialogue between the different characters.

About the music, we face a pure Heavy/Death, melodic and symphonic, with al lot of Orchestration [Violins, female voice in addition in some songs], keyboards but also with sharpened and incisive riffs and thundering drums. With a very good voice [in French] sometimes Death or Black and the perfect melody of each song due to the great quality of the musicians, we get an album of a great quality, easily comparable with Finnish productions [COB, Norther] yet master in this style of music.

Un Lac De Larmes Et De Sang is just a masterpiece, and we will just be able to regret the lack of technique from the two guitar players [yet excellent but not again big masters of the guitar solo] and the very big difficulty to understand [even for a French guy] the excellent story without the booklet due to the Death and Black voices but yes it's this kind of voices that want that.

To sum things up, you must know that we are certainly in presence of the French album of the year and I won't take any risks saying that Un Lac De Larmes Et De Sang can be easily classified in the top ten of the Death Melodic productions.

If you want to know the epic story of Hares and his son, Elmira and "Le Lac" ["The Lake" strange entity of blood water and tears who speaks and guides Hares in his quest] I recommend you to get this album.

With a beautiful story and great quality of musical composition, Un Lac De Larmes Et De Sang is just a masterpiece, and the story is not finished again. In one word a MUST.
