I receive a lot of Brutal Death Metal releases every week in my mail you know? Most of them are kind of average and repetitive, but every once in a while I get to hear really good stuff which differs from the other brutal bands out there; now I'm really glad to be hearing "The Horror Cult" by Caustic, this album is one of the few I really get to like and enjoy; let me explain a little more.

The first thing that pops into my mind while hearing the first track in this album is "Immolation"; the riffing and mostly the vocalizations are really similar to what the mentioned band did in their Unholy Cult days, fortunately Caustic manages to be similar but not an exact copy; so what makes Caustic a different band? The structures, the layered vocal tones and those really fucking catchy riffs; No matter what, you'll be repeating those beats over and over again in your head all day long, you'll be shopping and head-banging at the same time while you try to grab your favorite cereal but can't because the movement doesn't let you do it, then you'll find yourself doing the "Helicopter Move" while you're driving home omitting all the red lights finally to realize you're going the wrong way and so on. So, believe me when I tell you these songs are super sticky.

A great feature is the lyrical content, most bands tend to write their songs in English or in their own language, Caustic presents us English, Spanish and (I think) Portuguese lyrics, most of the people won't understand the last two languages but still it's cool to have that kind of features in a Brutal Death band. another good thing is the musical execution, as I already said the guitar riffs are really good due to the catchiness on them, but that's not all, the drumming is also really marvelous, this guy adds versatility towards the music with insane beats and even a couple of mid-paced structures.

All in all this is a good album if you're into Brutal Death Metal; yes it's neither original nor groundbreaking at all but still, what this band missed in innovativeness they remunerated with catchiness and tight brutality, and that's always a good thing to accomplish.
